Re: USB 3.0 hub recommendations for Mac - 2021

Even the smaller iPads, I have always used the wall charger that came with them. Nothing else seems to charge fast enough.

Re: USB 3.0 hub recommendations for Mac - 2021

Well I was hoping I could wait to order one, but ended up going to micro center today, the problem was happening every 10 minutes and just too annoying to deal with any longer.

I bought this:

Re: USB 3.0 hub recommendations for Mac - 2021

Are the switches mechanically latching pushbuttons? If not, do they retain their last setting if the hub is disconnected from power?

USB 3.0 hub recommendations for Mac - 2021

I've noticed a few usb related glitches, which seem to be from my powered USB hub. It's pushing 6-7 years old, so probably time to upgrade.

My setup:
2013 Mac Pro trash can
RME babyface pro
PT...

Re: Sweetwater sold to capital investment company

Considering how long they’ve been in business (42 years)…. Not surprising that a buyout would happen… I’m sure Chuck wants to retire. It’s interesting how everything just gets bought out or put out...

Re: 'Right to repair' movement is growing - see Apple computers

Re: ?possible? Vintage Mix+ PCI TDM cards in 2020

Yes, only way to use these is in a Mac G4 or older, or with an older windows machine. OS, plug-in, and 3rd party software compatibility is very finicky, as these systems are almost 25 year old tech....

Re: ADAT Bridge 24bit - internal battery

I have owned many Adat bridges, both the 20bit and 24bit versions. AFAIK They do not have any kind of internal memory, and therefore do not have batteries. If you notice when you power them on, the...

Re: Black Friday 2020 Deals 💲💲💲

I agree, soundtoys is another one, great deal on Soundtoys 5 bundle if you are a first time buyer, but there are not any deals on upgrades at the moment for existing users.

Re: The Tea Room..

15 years ago, my goal was to be retired in 15 years. As of today, my goal is to be retired in 15 years. Unlikely, but if you don’t set goals, you never have the chance to reach them :D

Re: Black Friday 2020 Deals 💲💲💲

I’m waiting for a deal on a plug-in that sounds like Kinder Man when he opens up one of these kinder eggs:

“Toy! Yoadle Yublle.... WTF? Meatballs in beer cheese soup? Oh Grobby!!! “

Re: Mac Pro 2013 10 or 12 Core?

Jfreak (mod on this forum) has built the 10 core and is very happy with it. He will probably chime in eventually. I am running the 6 core and so far I haven’t pushed it to its limits. But everyone’s...

Re: Stuck with dead/demo-mode Kontakt 5.5 databases. Can the DUC help where N.I won't

Sadly, I think Chris is correct. The old NI service center was reliant on internet authorization, it’s at least 10 years old now. I think they dropped it about 5-6 years ago. So old libraries that...

Re: Macintosh moving to ARM

Softube Amp Room - no brainer upgrade

I don’t usually get excited about new plugins since there is so much redundancy, but this one is worth mentioning. One of my most used guitar amp sims for the last few years has been Metal amp...

Re: BlackOut Tuesday’s gonna need a whole lot more than 24 Hours

The George Floyd video is really hard to watch, the four officers involved all belong in jail. As a white man who has spent most of his life living in the Minneapolis area, I was aware that there...

Re: IMac Pro or UA Apollo 8

I went through a similar dilemma a few months ago, I upgraded from a 2009 i7 iMac with 16gb ram. The iMac i9 has loud fans compared to the other choices, so you can narrow it down between iMac Pro...

Re: Mac OS9 data CDs not readable in OSX?

I also still have an old G4 with OS9 and OS X 10.3.9 that I can test with as well. Haven’t fired it up for a few years, but last time I used it, worked great. Let me know what you find.

Re: Mac OS9 data CDs not readable in OSX?

Iirc, there was a warning about old cd Roms not working around 10.10.x from chicken systems, saying you need to convert all of your old libraries before upgrading. I have a lot of old cd-r backups...

Re: Magma Expansion Chassis P7R4, PCIHIF68 Host compatible with Protools Mix, G4, OS9

Samplecell on a card wasn’t much of a cpu strain, if any. I highly recommend the samplecell card with the tdm module for use with a mix system. Soft samplecell was a cpu and memory hog for those...
