But considering the 192 is only if I'm not upgrading the software, am I wrong? AFAIK the "blue face" interfaces aren't compatible with Pro Tools 11 and future versions. Well, if they are compatible...

So VK responded and it seems that HD IO's are only sold (officially) as 8x8x8 or 16x16 (analog or digital). So much for flexibility... Oh, and I'm not considering a 192 because I wanna be able to...

You mean "only have 16 inputs and 16 outputs at once", so on a 16x16 unit I'd be unable to use the connections on the enclosure, right? And, sorry, but what do you mean by assigning a logical output...
