Wavedriver SCREWED my system. Try to uninstall the wavedriver and digi001 from the hardware devices then restart and install your software again. Fixed mine!

Under your hard disk controllers check your IDE controller properties and make sure your in dma mode and not pio mode.

I have the dac-1. When I hooked it up to my optical out on my 001.... No go... I called benchmark and they told me to use the spdif out, that the lightpipe is not adat format.

you will need a 16 bit .wav file to burn to a cd or to open in windows media player.
