Re: digi 001 owners - out of luck?

I've had my 001 for almost 5 years - it's paid for itself many times over but now it's time to move on.

Will I upgrade to an 002?

No.

I'm off to pastures new and I suggest that if you are...

Re: watts?

Well,

if you run a 10W amp into a 1kW speaker then you'll be safe as long as you don't run the amp so hard that it is clipping for long periods. That could damage the voice coils of the speaker...

Re: Mastering (S)PAZ

I find PAZ quite useful myself - but then I am old and going deaf.......

The numbers up the left represent the amplitude (in dB) of the frequencies shown across the bottom (in Hz). So bass...

Re: Recording reason 2.5

This is true, but when you want to hear the audio back after recording - you then have to remove the Reason Rewire plugs from the inserts. A small thing, but worth remembering.

Re: Recording reason 2.5

You can't bring REASON in on an Audio Track.
You have to bring REASON in on Aux channels and then Bus them to Audio tracks - set the output of the Aux channel to a Bus and the input of the Audio...

Re: G5 can\'t handle 512 buffer or lower

You are absolutely correct - Digi doesn't support upgrades.

Having said that,

I have NO problems running under OS9 - upgrade or not !!!!!

10.3 may prove better, but the 001 is not qualified...

Re: G5 can\'t handle 512 buffer or lower

Well,

Initially I thought that "renice"ing PT produced very positive results - I could record at 128 buffer without clicks.
Screen redraws appear slower though...

BUT I still have frequent...

Re: G5 can\'t handle 512 buffer or lower

TOP TIP STEVE.......

I'm going to be a "renice"ing fool from now on. Initial tests are MOST promising, no clicks and I can record at 128 buffer size.

I love this forum sometimes.........

Re: G5 can\'t handle 512 buffer or lower

O.K. I feel I have to chime in here too. G4 1200 upgrade, 960Mb RAM, IDE 7200 RPM audio drive

I recently took the plunge into OSX (10.2.6) and now I find that if I try to play back at 128 buffer...

Re: 001 and Reason 2.5

I'm in the same boat as you Blue, I tried 6.1 with Reason 2.5 under 10.2.6 and had so many problems with "Interupts holding off / CPU" type errors that I upgraded the processor from 400 to 1.2G - No...

Re: Dual Monitors with ATI Rage 128 Pro

Go for the ATI 8500 - it runs dual monitors like a dream. One off the VGA out, and one off the DVI out with an adaptor. (I'm assuming the Viewsonics use VGA in.)

If you were on this side of the...

Re: *** One man\'s Ableton LIVE manifesto ***

I downloaded my first version as soon as it was available - and had the same thing (allbeit in OS9.2.2) - only soundmanager, no direct I/O ...

Re: *** One man\'s Ableton LIVE manifesto ***

Exactly right Carl.

Oh, and LIVE 2.1 now uses Direct I/O so it can access the 001 directly...(no more ASIO drivers), with a 128 sample buffer size (4mS latency).

A brilliant tool and SO quick.

Re: bottlenecking with just a few tracks

Also, are you recording audio to the internal hard drive?
You might find that the internal drive isn't fast enough to play back many tracks at the same time as recording audio.
Most people seem...

Re: ANother question! 12" Power Book?

Apparently OS9 won't run on the 12" powerbook - firmware issues.......... Apple are forcing the move to OSX on new buyers.

Only 256 Megs of memory.

Re: Compressor or Pre amp first

Re: your thoughts on Ableton Live!

The ASIO driver is there - it's just a little on the latent side....... about 45mS through delay. Makes monitoring through LIVE impossible. Sometimes LIVE fails to recognise the ASIO driver (the CPU...

Re: flat frequency response

From my experience, if you mix on flat response monitors and it sounds OK - then it SHOULD translate to most other loudspeakers - most of which will not have a flat response, but each in a different...

Re: Internal CD writer install on G4

It's not hard - you first need to get the front bezel off, depending on which model you have, there should be a couple of plastic tags at the side that you can tweak to get it off (you'll see what i...

Re: What\'s with ProTool\'s MIDI Quantizing??

Burner.

OK, you may get delays between MIDI in and MIDI thru (is that what you mean by latency?) but it will be a constant delay, and so easily got around by advancing your sequencer tracks...
