Are you in the session where you got Optical S/PDIF output working (where I think you defaulted all the paths in I/O Setup)? Or, are you in the session with the old Apollo paths?

He has Optical S/PDIF working now. What he needs to do next is mirror MON L-R to ADAT 1:1-2 in Pro Tools. That is what the section in the What's New guide explains how to do.

The issue appears to be the session itself. It has not been manually re-mapped for Carbon's I/O complement. Pro Tools won't automatically know which Apollo paths you want mapped to Carbon paths.

Every bus in that screenshot, except MON L-R, is not mapped to a hardware output. If that's the case for all the other paths (hidden in the screenshot) then this is why you aren't getting digital...

From the image you sent, the Clarity appears to be locked to Optical being fed by Carbon. So, that's great. The issue now seems to be that you don't have busses mapped in I/O Setup properly. Once you...

Thanks. Please post a picture of the Bus tab. My guess is the ADAT outputs are not properly assigned.

Did you try this step for step?

As a simple test, do this:
-In Hardware Setup, set ADAT 1 Out port to S/PDIF
-Connect optical cable from ADAT 1 Out port on Carbon to Clarity Optical In port...

From what I can tell that guide is also for the stereo version:

Left ones are for input and show N/A because you don't have an optical input connected to those ports. If you did, it will instead show the format (ADAT or S/PDIF) being received on that port.

Yes, outside of PT as well. PT Hardware Setup just allows you to select which format you want for the optical output ports.
