Re: Can\'t open session

Glad were able to resolve the issue. I have a question though.

I had a similar issue when booting a session from a firewire drive, but I really needed to run the session from that drive so I...

Re: VST vs. TDM

The wrapper is very new and it might be a good idea to check if it works with the waves stuff first. Download the diamond bundle demo and try it, or just ask the guy in the shop if you can try it on...

Re: Voice Over Recording Level Help

This is a separate issue from the rest of the thread's flamefest so please don't draw me in

I'm sure mic modeler doesn't make a 57 sound like a U87, just as you say.

It does sound really...

Re: Dithering/mastering: what the pros are doing?

The only thing I know about vinyl is that you can't have any out of phase bass frequencies, because it will make the needle jump right off the record deck.

Re: mixing/beat detective tips....

I actually meant, I can't manually edit a song in an hour, not that I really can finish a song in 5 minutes with Beat Detective.

Loom labelling?

Can someone confirm the output order for the Monitor outputs of the C24? I just installed one for a friend and I don't have a labelled D-type to XLR for the speaker outs. Just trying to save myself a...

Re: plug-in verbs vs. hardware verbs

I agree with Daire. The only plugin reverb I like is Lexiverb, simply because it sounds so similar to the 480. In fact I suspect they used some of the same algorithms, for the Plate at least. Plate...

Re: Dithering/mastering: what the pros are doing?

TC MasterX5

5 band compressor with soft limiting and multiple dither options. It sounds frighteningly good.

Unfortunately they don't do an HD version, it's Mix only.

Re: reversing audio

If he's talking about recording NEW MATERIAL in reverse I already answered the question in my first post. From the quote I think he believes that bouncing with the tape flipped over will result in...

Re: mixing/beat detective tips....

Then either those guys were incompetent or you are the Jedi Master of drum editing. Or both.

Any song I could manually edit in an hour would take me about 5 minutes with beat detective. I was...

Re: reversing audio

Have you ever really done this on a tape machine? Because what you're saying makes no sense. Whether the tape is flipped or not, what you describe will just bounce a copy of 1 track to another track....

Re: mixing/beat detective tips....

Roberts.

You can get it going quicker than that mate . It takes me around an hour to get a half decent drum track in shape, maybe 2 hours to get all the naughty in-between hihats sorted out....

Re: reversing audio

I'm a little confused what you're asking. If you're talking about doing the old school backwards playing thing with some overdubs you have yet to record, do this: Do a Save As to make a spare version...

Looking for a shortcut I THOUGHT I saw ages ago

You know how alt+select copies the same selection to all tracks (like assigning all tracks to the same pair of outputs in 1 click)?

I vaguely remember seeing a similar shortcut to apply the...

Re: Cant open a session...

Uh Oh.

If you can't import the tracks into a new, empty, session, as far as I know that session is dead.

I live in fear of this happening ever since a friend of mine recorded a whole track,...

Re: Signal quality and long Digilink cables?

The only problem is, after 14ft, the Zeros, being fatter than the Ones, start getting tired, with the result that only the Ones make it to the end of the cable. Therefore all you get at the end is...

Re: Mixing piano & Guitar

I've used Nashville tuning a lot, generally to double regular stereo acoustic strummy parts. It rocks.

Re: mixing/beat detective tips....

Yes, all the time. I regularly chop and conform 15 mic drum kits into 16ths throughout a song, it generally works great. The quickest way to smooth the edits is to use "smooth edits" without...

Re: mixing/beat detective tips....

Incidentally: If you're trying to conform the overheads AFTER the close mics, don't. They'll never trigger in the same places and you'll just end up with a different kind of mess, as you seem to have...

Re: plug-in verbs vs. hardware verbs

Jeez you guys are so spoiled. When I started recording we had to get reverb by mixing at the bottom of a well. In a field, probably.

Does anyone know if they made the Lexiverb plugin for HD...

Re: Shortcut to mute region?

lol Extreme

It's really only 3 steps. I always have the single-key commands for Editing switched on, so you just make the selection across the vocal lines you want to mute, hit B, hit apple-M....
