Re: Who else is still using a Mac Pro 5,1 or older computer?

When I was still on my PT10 HD3 system I was using 10.9.5. It wasn't officially supported by Avid but Pro Tools worked fine. I'm not sure if that will solve your mail and browser issues though.

There is this:

I've never used it but I've heard good things.

Re: Who else is still using a Mac Pro 5,1 or older computer?

I'm still on a 2010 5,1 running Mojave PT 2020.9 HDN. I also have another 2010 5,1 system here on High Sierra with PT 2021.3 HDX.

Both systems are working great and i don't feel the need to...

Re: Mastering

Loud mostly comes from the EQ balance. If you want it to be competitively loud you'll most likely have to sacrifice some subs and add more presence (2k-5k). Also, distortion is your friend, that's a...

Re: Anyone running 2021 on old cheesegraters?

I think the noise is from your HDX card. In my experience they are the loudest thing in the box compared to the cpu and gpu fans

Re: Question "Commit" and VCA automation

Well I did a couple tests myself. I'm getting the same results that you found. If you keep the committed audio in the VCA group you do get a double dose of VCA automation.

So I was obviously wrong...

Re: Tech needed for Digi Pre repair. Front panel stopped working.

I think this company can take care of you:

I've never used them myself but I've heard good things from others.

Re: Question "Commit" and VCA automation

That's interesting, so in the commit process it records all of the automation data to the committed audio. Which kind of makes sense. But after the audio has been committed does the VCA automation...

Re: Question "Commit" and VCA automation

I don’t commit subgroups but I do work with VCAs a lot. My understanding is that as long as they are still members of the VCA group they will still follow the VCA automation. If you want the...

Re: Saving Markers On Rendered/Bounced File?

I don’t totally understand this workflow so this might not be the best advice. But why wouldn’t you import the video file into pro tools and do everything you need to do within pro tools? In this...

Re: How Can I Check Loudness Stats for a Selection?

Depending on what you are doing there might not be an upside for Pro Tools. I know for me I can't imagine using anything else. I mostly use if for mixing and editing music.

Re: How Can I Check Loudness Stats for a Selection?

Welcome to Pro Tools. The DAW the everyone loves to hate. Unfortunately, it's expensive and a lot of little things aren't included or cost extra compared to other DAWs

FYI If you have a...

Re: How Can I Check Loudness Stats for a Selection?

If you have the Pro Limiter plugin installed you can use the audiosuite version of that to analyze clips. There's probably a better way but that's what I do in the rare instances when I need that...

Re: DAW controller options??

Depending on your space/budget I would say go ICON. You can get a used D-Command or a D-Control for very good prices right now. Either will work great for PT8. They were built to last and aren't hard...

Re: AAX DSP / Plugin-Alliance question

I also rely mostly on Sonnox. I have and regularly use all of their plugins. I have a few Plugin-Alliance options that are nice. If you like channel strips they have good options. For simple...

Re: Can Offline Bounce be trusted...?

In my experience offline bounce works great in Pro tools. The only time I’ve had problems with it was because of plugin bugs. I would take the time to figure a out which plugs are problematic and...

Sonnox Oxford Reveb and Avid Revibe would be good options for this.

Well I did it! I've been sitting in front of a blue D-Control for about 2 weeks now. So far I'm really happy with the decision. I'm still working out some of the ergonomic changes. Got to retrain the...

Re: D-Show fader on D-Command ?

I'm not 100% sure but I think you just need to reorder the wiring in the connector. I bought some used faders a couple years ago and I think they may have come from a Venue system. Once I reordered...

Re: User tips for D command & D control

My D-Command is working great with 2020.9.1. I'm not planning on leaving ICON any time soon. Even after PT stops supporting it I'll probably stay on that version for as long as I can before I'm...

Re: Ozone 8 to Ozone 9 patch transition? (..& Izotope plugins in general)

I agree with you regarding the iZotope business model. Seems they update about once a year or so and then abandon the older version. Leaving you hanging if you want to upgrade your DAW/OS and be able...
