I've seen various threads on here, but don't seem to find a suitable answer...does anyone know if you can DEFINITELY bypass the mic-pre's on an mbox mini by going in the line input?

The whole thing started out with me wanting to get a decent mic-pre...I have some really good mics, just didn't feel that the mbox was doing them justice. So i've been trying to look at my options...

My macbook just has 2 USB ins, does one have to be taken up by the iLok for PT9? Does it have to stay in for the whole time you're using it, or just to activate it? I'd want to use one for my ext...
