I get the same error too, but I think I know why it happens. The error happens when you open a Midi Editor window and minimize it or hide it by clicking on another window (i.e. the mix/edit window)....

Sure. Just make sure you import the track that contains the Structure instance on it.

You might want to try importing the tracks one by one (via 'Import Session Data' under the 'File' menu). It's helped me in the past.
