Oh Im not quite sure which motherboard i have. let me look into and get back... thanks for the info though.. there is a soundcard already on the computer though but it is also a creative soundcard...

Well that may be a very helpful suggestion.. Sound blaster is made by creative and my default sound card on windows for some reason is also creative. So i guess Im looking for a good one at a...

It was previously suggested to me the Sound Blaster Audigy might be part of my problem.
So I'm just wondering what sound card everyone is using?

I clearly stated that the computer i run pro tools on is not the same computer connected to the internet. or didnt you read that part.

no where that i have read doesit say anything about the audigy.
I use hot swap drives as far as recoding. I use separate drives for recording and playback as suggested. but at this point i cant even...
