I get this sequence, but I find that a restart is always required after selecting the 002 in the Sound Control Panel. I've never been able to get another application to access Core Audio under 7.4.2...

Actually, I'm having exactly the same problem on a PPC G5 with 10.5.3 and 7.4.2.

As long as I power up the 002 before booting OS X, non-PTLE applications can access the 002.

Check under the "Hardware Setup" menu. You need to make sure the optical i/o is set to S/PDIF rather than ADAT since the ADAT protocol only goes up to 48 kHz.

If the plugins were loaded but weren't on the iLok, they'd still try to open and prompt you for an authorization, so my guess is it's not an iLok issue.

Missing buttons on PTLE GUI

Using 7.3.1 and today my interface is coming up short of several buttons. In their place is a generic "PNG" tag. Sometimes entire plugins come up with a big "PNG" instead of the interface.

Sounds like you need to set your clock source.

In PTLE, use "command - 2" to bring up the pane and use the pulldown menu to select the appropriate clock source.
