From what you describe, you would have the same channel strip effects, because you would be playing the instrument on the same channel. You can't open effects on midi channels.

I'd love to hear how it works out! Timing to me looks like it would be easy to run a new ProTools Hackintosh rig for 5-7 years from now... plenty long for an update cycle. I will probably do that...

That's really stupid, but fortunately it's easy enough to work around thanks to how easy it is to import tracks. Just save a session copy with a new name and delete away.

Sample rounding issue is based on an actual math problem between samples and ticks. It's easily worked around by using an offset when looping or copy pasting regions. The other problem the OP...
