Default EQ & Comp not working after 10.3.5 update

I upgraded to 10.3.5 this morning. Every time I close a session and reopen another, my default EQ and Comp choices (as chosen under Mixing tab of preferences) get lost. Big pain. Anyone else...

They are, without a doubt, affecting the volume. Blue line goes up, volume spikes, blue line goes down, sound is gone, and I can't control it.
