Re: M2 mac advise request

Good to know. I'll be maxing it out for sure

Re: M2 mac advise request

The new MBA 15 looks impressive but wondering if PT will even run on it natively. It may be time to upgrade my 8,2 MBP from 2011 but I can wait for the M3. It seems AVID will get acquired by Sony,...

Re: Pro Tools on an M2 MacBook Air

Still waiting for 100% silicon native (PT+all plugins) and to upgrade this 2011 MBP to a fanless M3 MBA with 64gb RAM

Re: Apple Silicon Pro Tools Expert - Exciting News

Nice. I for one will be waiting until an M3 MBA can run it with zero hiccups (with HD video, tons of tracks with VI's and stacks of CPU-hungry plugins) as well as having a browser open with a...

Re: Making the leap to new MBP- Pro or Max??

It would be aptly named since it's rumored to feature TSMC's upcoming 3-nanometer chip design. So yeah, hardware has moved on, whilst Avid can no longer hide its Intel-native software with...

Re: Making the leap to new MBP- Pro or Max??

I'm waiting for the M3 Air 15" as Avid seems to be in the throes of a rebuild from the ground up. Hoping for Logic to buy them out at this point honestly.

Re: 2022 Macbook Air

Yes, however the overwhelming response has been a glitch-laden frustration fest with longtime users jumping ship

2022 Macbook Air

It's rumoured the new 2022 MBA's will have the M2 chip and 16 GB RAM...
...but will it natively run PT and all third party plugins?

We may have to wait for the 2023+ models to upgrade

ETA for Native Silicon Build

It's looking like 2022 could be the year, but I would buy a new MBP in 2021 if the Rosetta Bottleneck goes away for PT and all 3rd party plugs

Re: I’ve come to the crossroads with protools?

I'm just waiting for Avid to get native on the next silicon MBPs. Could be anywhere from 2022 to 2025 though.

Going to keep chugging away on this 2011 MBP for now

Re: Seeking Macbook Pro Buy Advice From Geniuses :-), (plz)

Is there an ETA on native PT functionality on M1 macs? I'd like to avoid Rosetta on the forthcoming 16" MBP but may have to hold out for the M3

Looking to upgrade my 2011 MBP which runs...

Re: Anyone tried Protools on an M1 mac yet?

Anyone word on the M1x macbook? Looking forward to a cooler, quieter and lighter machine. I basically want to be able to import an entire film and score it, with scads of tracks, plugins and zero...

Re: Pro Tools requires restart when I change sample rates? Help?

I too am getting this, albeit on a 2011 MBP running PT12

Each project opens at HW buffer of 256 and once I try to change it beach balls infinitely, forcing a process kill

Re: Time for a new machine?

I too am in this situation - although I'm still running a 2011 MBP, it has had 3 identical display chip problems. Not sure when the new 16" comes out but it seems smart to wait to see how it does...

Re: Arm mbp

It's only died twice - both times required a display chip refurb. The heat got to be almost burning the hands but was helped by a modded cooling stand. Aside from that, it will be good to see a...

Arm mbp

I still run a 2011 MBP - works fine although a bit hot and heavy. I was just about to get the 64GB 2020 model when they announced the ARM switch.

What's the consensus on the upcoming ARM MBPs. ...

Re: Macintosh moving to ARM

And here I was about to replace my 2011 MBP. It still runs fine but I was drawn to the max 64GB RAM of the latest model. That and the vastly quieter operation. I may still get one, since we all...

Re: New Macbook Pro / Interface?

No UAD needed as I feel it's overkill. Currently testing the Zoom TAC2 due to it being the lightest thunderbolt interface. So far, I like how straightforward it is. I just need basic 2 inputs at...

New Macbook Pro / Interface?

My late 2011 MBP is still running fine, it's just too heavy. Audio interface is the Apollo Twin TB as I only need 2 inputs...but even that is to heavy. I figured now is a good time to upgrade, but...

Re: OWC SSD upgrade?

I may be looking into a more powerful mactop then.

My quad-core /16GB RAM shouldn't be hitting 97% CPU levels. Mind you, this even happens when PT is closed and no other apps are open. I then go...
