Re: Consolidate Regions + Convert Sample Rate + Export

Thank you Chris - in fact I should put an update as I started using pre-roll etc. which requires no user intervention for pressing the record button during printing.

It seems to work on all...

Re: morphing into Venue System ...

And the OS is Embedded XP so it is stable and does not keep changing under Digi's feet.

Last time I suggested a Pro Tools appliance like this my post was deleted. Let's see what happens this time....

Re: MAJOR delay compensation problem! Very strange!

We saw it only with inactive audio tracks.

But for safety we now changed our workflow so that we save the version with the inactive tracks, delete all the inactive tracks and save with a stepped...

Re: MAJOR delay compensation problem! Very strange!

Hi Storm,

Do you have any inactive tracks in your session? There is a major ADC bug introduced in 7.4 (and exists in 8.x as well) where an inactive track wrongly contributes to ADC calculation.

Re: SPL Vitalizer MK2-T BETA

I've been using the beta and I really like it. I have the hardware unit side by side and they are really really similar. The hardware unit was always too noisy for me and could only use it as a...

Re: Best alternative HD interfaces?

Good choice old or new - we have 7 of them (loaded with the extra I/O cards) and they've never let us down. We have few esoteric D/As as well (Grace and Manley) and they hold their own.

Enjoy

Re: Best alternative HD interfaces?

I saw it happen on 7.1 as well. It is not related to the converters - I can make it happen with digital loopback on the AES/EBU ports of the 192.

With software jitter what I mean is the 'internal...

Re: Best alternative HD interfaces?

I think you are right masterduk - it has nothing to do with ADC. IMHO it is software jitter on the TDM bus.

I reported the bug through the official channels (the new Avid reporting system). They...

Re: Best alternative HD interfaces?

The 'hardware insert' group delay is a real and measured phenomenon and has now been confirmed by digi as a bug. It exists in all 7.x and 8.x versions, including the current beta. It currently has an...

Re: pitch shifting stereo acoustic guitars

You may want to consider the new melodyne editor - I only used it briefly but was suitably impressed with the results. The trick would be to align the two mics' timing inside melodyne.

Re: ProTools HD+ Lynx Aurora, expect total cancellation?

Hi Simon,

They will not cancel out because of the minor differences in trim settings and AD/DA non-linearities.

However, regardless of that there is a bug in 7.x to 8.x (confirmed by Digi now)...

Re: ADC Causes delay

I think what it says is that the track is not 'delay compensated' if it is in record or in input mode (I). It will still be delayed by any latency implied by the plugins placed on the recorded track....

Re: Mac Internet links - just how is it done?

Notice the icon with the world? That's the insert link (URL) button. If you select THIS and then click the world icon you get a dialogue box where you can enter the URL

Thanks for posting this. It was me who originally posted the QK solution and yes you are right it works better by using the scrub first (which is what I've been using).

I gave up posting on this...

As per my previous post here is how inactive (disabled) tracks can continue to contribute to ADC calculations.

The problem manifests itself as follows:

You open a simple session like the...

Re: ADC Causes delay

That's why I was asking the question about inactive (disabled) tracks. There is a major ADC bug regarding inactive (disabled) tracks or plugins. Although they are seemingly disabled, they still...

Re: Protools 8 extremely unstable on my system!

I noticed that you have both the stero mixer and the surround mixer in your plugins. I thought you could only have one mixer plugin

Re: Why were my comments deleted?

My comments did not mention any other users. I simply expressed a wish to have a Pro Tools appliance which did not depend on the whims of Apple or Microsoft.

I do not see how that was uncivil or...

Re: ADC Causes delay

I understand that there are no plugins on the track being recorded.

Are you saying that there are no plugins anywhere in the session? Hidden tracks etc..

Also, do you have any inactive tracks?...

Re: Question about 192 Digital Outputs

John,

In our 192 set up we can output ADAT and AES at the same time (suspect TDIF would be the same) if we set the 192 Sample Rate setting in the Hardware dialogue (Bottom left) to 44 or 48K and...

Re: Question about 192 Digital Outputs

I think that depends on the bit rate of your session. If you are using 88K or above I think the TDIF output is disabled (like the ADAT ones).
