I have found that as my (M1) CPU usage rises, MIDI playback is the first thing to suffer. Not that the system is overloaded but if I have a load of plugins running then MIDI tracks can stop playback....

Understood. In the ideal world Pro Tools would install plugins, keep them updated and manage everything centrally. The installation, authorisation and library management could have been standardised...

Big fan of Strike here. Sounds are not great out of the box. Poorly/over mixed kits in for my taste but great selection of patterns and features. Using it with Big Sur and the M1 better than ever...

Compatibility going forward is a big dealt to me. These days I generally stick with the main plugin vendors and avoid any niche products.
