I just checked again and found out why I can't upgrade to 8.0.5. I have OS 10.6.8 and on the update page it says 8.0.5 is supported for 10.6.7 and lower.

Well, I uninstalled it and reinstalled PT. Still won't let me upgrade to 8.0.5. :( Haven't gotten in to the use of my controller yet... so we'll see if there's any improvement.

You don't have to uninstall it. I have MP8 on both my MBP and a PC. Since you have to use the usb dongle they allow for multiple installations.

If you aren't certain, just make sure that your play button is an arrow only and not an arrow with a loop thingy-of-death. Then you should be good.

I used Groove3's Pro Tools Explained series. It's a beginner - intermediate set of videos. Was really inexpensive too! Has helped me out a lot.

Since there is only beta support, I would assume that they are still working out the bugs. Try reverting back to Snow Leopard for the time being until Lion is "officially" supported.
