Re: New Slate VCC Update!

I too have been enjoying Satson. I was skeptical because it was so cheap, but hey, why shouldn't it be.

Re: Advice on monitoring / fader / headphone solution

I use a Control 24 for faders, panning, fx sends and transport, and for surround monitoring. But for stereo monitoring and headphone sends I use an SPL 2Control.

Re: Faster processor versus more cores?

Yeah I saw that, thanks. Seems like one person was recommending the 6 core Westemere with the faster processor. I was hoping Avid would chime in with some sort of guidance, as that thread seemed to...

Re: Faster processor versus more cores?

Well I'm looking to the future as well. But I've heard that higher processing speed gives you more horsepower than more cores. When PT goes 64 bit is that when the 12 cores really become valuable?...

Faster processor versus more cores?

Looking to upgrade now that new stuff is approved. Do you think it's better to go with a faster processor versus more cores, all other things being equal?

Specifically, I'm looking at:

Re: PT 8.1 CS2 - When Midi Timing becomes a variable !!!

How about Spectrasonics? Surely they would provide you with their software to test. Their stuff has always been MIDI-random in Pro Tools.

Re: Latency with expansion chassis

Great Werner, thanks for the heads up! When doing MIDI the latency in the Digi chassis drives me up the wall.

Re: Latency with expansion chassis

Having been burned once, I want to make absolutely sure the Magma chassis introduces no extra latency. Glad to hear the so far unanimous endorsement. The question of course is whether to upgrade by...

Re: Latency with expansion chassis

Are those the old PCI cards? Are you using the card with the chassis to convert them to PCIe?

Thanks,

Re: Slate VCC Beta

Weird, when I downloaded the beta and tried to open it I got the following message:

Couldn't open "VCC Demo Setup.pkg". This package type requires Mac OS X 10.5.

Re: Latency with expansion chassis

Can anyone verify that the current Magma chassis do not introduce any additional latency, even with the PCI to PCIe conversion card?

Latency with expansion chassis

I'm still using the now unsupported Digi HD expansion chassis. It has always doubled the latency of my system, at whatever buffer setting. My question is, do the Magma chassis' also double latency?...

Re: Digi Expansion HD chassis no longer supported?

yeah, I think it's odd actually, because I've always given Digi kudos for the upgrade paths. I mean, how hard is it to continue to support this piece of hardware or offer a deal on something else.

Re: Digi Expansion HD chassis no longer supported?

Thanks Chris. It's a bum deal no matter how long anybody has known about it. No reason for it not to be put front and center by newly dissatisfied customers.

Salesperson: "No, don't get the...

Re: Digi Expansion HD chassis no longer supported?

I just don't get it. How hard would it be to offer a new set of guts to make it continue to work.

I'va always defended Digi in the past against the various naysayers, because I appreciate that...

Digi Expansion HD chassis no longer supported?

Holy smokes. Incredible that they're abandoning this piece of hardware, their own brand, while still supporting the Magma chassis. It wasn't that long ago that I bought the Digi chassis, which I...

Re: Most cost effective way to upgrade PCIX to PCIe ?

Weird that they would do that. I bought the Digi box just to make sure it wouldn't get abandoned. Why offer upgrade paths for everything else but not this? I mean it's a stupid expansion...

Re: Most cost effective way to upgrade PCIX to PCIe ?

Is it true that Digi has abandoned their own expansion chassis? I'm using the Digi chassis with PT 7.4 and heard that the chassis won't support the latest updates. WTF?

Re: The New Mac Pro Line and Pro Tools

It would be nice for Digi to chime i on one of these thread and tell us what the deal is with approving the newer Macs. A lot of people are in this dilemma.

Re: Huge adc bug!??

So that was a year ago.

Now I'm thinking of moving from 7.4 to 8.1, but the whole point would be to use more VIs.

Can't believe this issue has still not been addressed.
