I'm confused with the procedure you write here. Exactly what are you trying to accomplish? Faster system? Fast nvme drive in a pcie slot. Get one big enough and you can put everything on there....

If you look at basslik's sig you'll see he has a 5,1 Mac Pro so that's definitely a tower. Still not having a repair utility for APFS drives isn't good but nothing one really needs to worry about as...

basslik said nothing about using an external drive for samples. If he's using an ssd and it's internal go with APFS.
