umm...well, it could be number of things.

Most likely you're clipping somewhere in the mix. Maybe a track, maybe the master fader. It could be some sort of a clock mismatch.

Maxim is cool...I used that for a long time before I got the waves stuff. Maxim tends to start distorting before some of the other limiters, but if you tweak it just right, you can push it a little...
