Re: making mono track into stereo or double mono in PT7LE

What I've done in the past is insert a mono to stereo digi EQ (or any mono to stereo plug-in) on the mono track and hey presto you've got a stereo track. Then de-activate the plug-in.

Scarbee Pre Bass Slides - How to perform them on the Axiom49?

I have scarbee pre-bass but not the sustain pedal. How can I perform bass slides on my Axiom 49 without the pedal?

I've read a bit about Midi CC events and saw something mentioned about...

Re: Multi FX or individual pedals?

thanks for the feedback guys. That's what I'm after i.e adjustable knobs - no menus, on the fly changes between songs. If I want a bit more chorus or delay on the next song I can reach down and twist...

listened to the Line6 M13 sound samples on their website, sounds amazing but probably too complex a beast for me as I'll be singing as well as trying to play...

Multi FX or individual pedals?

I'm considering getting a BOSS multi fx unit for gigging. I'm used to our lead guitarist using individual BOSS pedals so I know the quality is good but I can't vouch for the quality of their multi fx...

Re: midi recording - note durations

Check to see if 'Input Quantize' is enabled. 'Event>Event Operations>Input Quantize.

If it is, disable it by unticking this option.

Re: Audiosuite and Midi tracks

Sorry, I thought you meant Midi Instrument track. I don't use midi tracks. The Instrument track has an input and output selector where you could bus the output to an audio track.

You could create...

Re: Audiosuite and Midi tracks

Audiosuite is used to process audio selections. You're better off printing your midi tracks to audio to free up processing power and then making the midi track inactive. You can always re-activate...

Re: Best Recording Levels

Hi guys

I know I'm treading on HD territory, but just just wanted to say this is hugely informative. Thanks. I'll go back to my LE box now.:D

Re: Help needed for a windows set up

Have you tried your local Digital Village (Southampton). I found them very helpful when I was setting up my rig. They stock the new Synergy PC which is already set up for audio recording - £549.99 is...

Re: Where do I start?

If you do manage to track down an MBox2 Pro, one great advantage I find is the twin headphone sockets for when you're recording your mate and he/she wants a different headphone level to you, which is...

Re: Which version of PT8 to use?

Wow, not much love for 8.0.4. I've never had a problem with any version since I started with 7.4 At least ever since I followed the optimizations and kept my plug-ins up to date.

Re: Best effective way to program grooves by hand in Superior Drummer 2/Pro Tools 8 L

What a great tip. This is something that's always bugged me (snare level in the OH's). Nice one :-)

Re: my master volume is in red...

There's no point using the trim in this situation as you can use gain staging to achieve the optimum level. I'm not referring to signals that have clipped, I'm referring to signals that were recorded...

Re: my master volume is in red...

The idea of using the trim in this way is if you have already committed to the recording. If you haven't then just adjust your levels before committing.

Regarding the insert order.
Any plugins...

For automating volume or just viewing your volume level across the track. Check out the manual (the Help menu, on your protools screen). Type in automation in the search box. Worth a read. Automation...

Re: my master volume is in red...

Don't compress them to get rid of the peaks. No matter how subtle, Compression will compromise your dynamics. Dynamics and volume are completely different things. I can't explain them here as they...

Re: my master volume is in red...

Try to keep it out of the red. Record at somewhere between -12 and -6dB and you will achieve better dynamics when it comes to mastering. Use a trim plugin on your tracks to check the level as you...

Re: No signal on audio track

I'm not familiar with the 003 but Analog 1-2 sounds to me like the output path. The input on the 003 should correspond with the track input, i.e Mic 2, A2 (Mono) or something like that.

Re: No signal on audio track

Check that the input gain on the 003 is turned up. I presume you're going in through the XLR input.

There is no top 5. It's all about personal taste and experience. Try the Massey CT4 as a start. Very reasonably priced. www.masseyplugins.com

Re: Master Bus...

FWIW I prefer to track at between -6 and -12. IMO This allows a lot more 'make -up' gain at mastering stage. As far as preserving dynamics I agree with Dr Ford re: 'feeding the master too hot'. Give...

Re: How do I achieve the "Pop" Harmony/Vocal Effect?

Spend some time on the Celemony website. They've got a lot of useful tutorials if you take the time to view them.
