suggestions on new rig

Ok, so I have around $1,200.00 to $1,400.00 to work with.

I do alot of work with virtual instruments in PT8.
Where should most of the money go?

Also, has anyone had any experience with...

ive been using pt 7.1.1 ...... i just downloaded the upgrade for pt 8......installed it. went to ilok.com to download the license and it did just fine. now its telling me pt8 cant find my dongle key....

i am somewhat confused as to how i upgrade to the latest m-powered version. i currently have 7.1.1 on XP Pro sp3 and want the newest version available.

ok, its not sluggish anymore. but the problem still remains with PT not recognizing projectmix as a controller.

nobody here has any answers for this? projectmix is a hunk of junk. ive talked with the techs at m-audio and they just left me hanging. told me to reinstall PT (didnt work) if that didnt...

i recently updated the firmware for projectmix. now it is extremely slow responding. when i turn the volume knob it literally takes several seconds for it to respond.

just double checking.....make sure you do it before PT is loaded. and maybe restarting your computer will help.

Help.... I'm getting an error (-5000) "Do not have appropriate persission to create audio files on Drive 1". I've selected the drive and gone to INFO and check that there is "Read / Write" permission...

For some reason, I can't get the loop playback to work. I know it used to work, but I guess I've hit some shortcut keys or something. I've looked in the manual and everything looks the way it should....

ok....what is the best way for recording more stuff when my system is so "bogged" down with other tracks/plugins? i have a session that i cant go below 2048 on my playback engine without it breaking...

uninstalling PT

is it possible to place my PT Plug-ins folder on a seperate drive and then when i reinstall PT, replace the plug-ins folder? reason being, i have ALOT of plug-ins and dont want to reinstall all those...
