I\'m Hearing Voices!!!

Okay, this is really weird. I'm running 5.1.1 on a G4. I have a simple music session (just gtr/voice) on the SCSI chain to a glyph 18 gig drive. The vocalist is having a tough day so we're punching...

Re: Good Mics For Voiceover?

DigiDawg,

I've used my Valvet for 2 years now and really love it. Lots of air, warm, very clean and transparent, wide pattern that reduces off-mike problems some announcers have reading down the...

Re: Good Mics For Voiceover?

Hi, V/O's are my mainstay too. I use a Brauner Valvet and love it. Recently bought a Dragonfly and use it a lot too. On some talent 421's and RE20's seem to work best. I keep meaning to get a U87 but...

Re: Insurance

My home studio is my day job so I've got a business insurance policy. Maybe a rider on your home policy would cover it.

Re: Favorite Imperfection On A major Album...

My memory's a little hazy on this one, but check out: Bowie/Ziggy Stardust "The Jean Genie". Incredibly bad edit in drum tracks/horribly executed fill after lead break puncuated by Bowie yelling "get...

Re: Hey, let\'s talk about depth of field!

This thread is still kicking!

I'm really enjoying "Behind the Glass", a great read. I've had a chance to try some of the tips here and am finding them helpful.

Re: Hey, let\'s talk about depth of field!

Great information, thanks! When I first got my Waves bundle I really overused the spatializers and created some disturbingly wide stereo patterns. Some were very neat effects, but completely...

Hey, let\'s talk about depth of field!

Okay, I'm limited for space in my studio so most everything is tight mic'd (a drag, I know). Also I work within the constraints of Pro Tools (no outboard mixing). How about some tips for achieving...

Re: De-popping vocals

I do what Produceher does and it it works well. In addition I create short fades into the track that is not rolled off. This gives a smoother transition into the track. You may have to pull out the...

Re: Good CD burning programs...?

Sounds like you may need to use something like an Ultramaximizer/Finalizer to increase the level. Careful though, or you'll end up with a 2X4 instead of a soundwave...

Re: digidesign support

Just a "me too" note here... sent out a card on Friday and had it back the following Tuesday morning. Lot's of complaining on DUC but my experiences have generally been good with Digi.

Re: Midi Interface

You can replace the G4 internal modem with a "Stealth" serial adaptor for about $70 but that only gives you one serial port. After that your choices include USB and giving up a precious PCI slot....

Anyone have personal, side by side comparison experience with psx100 vs. SE model? Can anyone tell me why they prefer one over the other?

Best price on a PSX-100?

Hi, I'm shopping for a 24 bit converter to run thru my 888/16 AES/EBU. Is the PSX-100 my best bet? Okay, so it is... what are people paying for these? What, you have a better, cheaper, cooler idea??...

Re: What a SALESMAN told me

Great! Thanks for the input. Now my question is which converter to go for.

Re: voice processors? mics?

Thanks Zeus, this makes sense. Is anybody doing this? What converters are you using? Are there other issues to consider? Thanks for your input.
