Re: Digi 003 Rack Monitor Volume - crackling pot

Digidesign, Avid and their authorized repair centers have never given me that information, as far as I can recall. I kept asking for it, so I could just order the part. They said something about it...

Re: Digi 003 Rack Monitor Volume - crackling pot

How did you manage to contact Avid without paying $40 for a "support code"?

(Apparently asking a question now can cost up to $500 at Avid. I am truly amazed that people here still defend Avid...

Re: Digi 003 Rack Monitor Volume - crackling pot

That's awesome, I've been looking for that pot. 60 euros seems like an awful lot. They never gave you a part number for it? The only way is for you to buy it from them? That's can't be legal, can it?...

Re: Digi 003 Rack Monitor Volume - crackling pot

Thank you for being honest, I appreciate and understand where you're coming from.

I managed to take apart the pots and get some deoxit inside. Not thanks to Digidesign or Avid!
They sound clean...

Re: Digi 003 Rack Monitor Volume - crackling pot

On digidesign.com, under "Support" in the main menu, the first drop down option that can offer true technical support is called "Support Forum".

"Support Forum" redirects to here, the DUC. This is...

Re: Digi 003 Rack Monitor Volume - crackling pot

No it isn't, because there are Digidesign representatives, paid to come here, occasionally showing up to tell users they are doing something wrong and it's not Digidesign's responsibility.

I guess...

Re: Digi 003 Rack Monitor Volume - crackling pot

Hello? Digidesign?

Is this forum the only way to contact support at digidesign for LE systems?

This an outrageous lack of customer support!

Re: Digi 003 Rack Monitor Volume - crackling pot

Probably not. But it would definitely reduce the profit per unit by at least 10%, and that would be a big no-no, wouldn't it? /s

Re: Digi 003 Rack Monitor Volume - crackling pot

Yeah, a lot of people would love a Presonus Central Station.
But it's $500, so only people with money to waste (or irresponsible credit card management) can afford to buy a new rack device to...

Re: Digi 003 Rack Monitor Volume - crackling pot

I think these pots are sealed...
amps and electric guitars have vintage-style, open pots that are easy to clean - I spray my guitars and basses with Deoxit.
Newer equipment, like Digidesign rack...

Re: Digi 003 Rack Monitor Volume - crackling pot

Are the 003 Rack potentiometers sealed?

Maybe the Deoxit didn't even penetrate it! In that case, who can replace these?

This can't be that rare. Surely there must be people out there who...

Digi 003 Rack Monitor Volume - crackling pot

Hi y'all!

I have had the Monitor pot making some crackly noises, so I tried what every studio tech tries first - Deoxit.

Well... that worked for about a day, and now it's even worse! I had...
