How will pricing change for academic and nonprofit institutions?

I consult for several educational and nonprofit institutions and we would like to request clarity about how the pricing changes going into effect in July 2019 will affect renewals of perpetual...

Re: 003: PT LE is dead! Long live Pro Tools

Well said.

Yes, Digi has nothing to lose and much to gain by opening Pro Tools to work with any and all Digidesign/M-Audio interfaces.

I can't imagine a sensible argument against it.

Re: 003: PT LE is dead! Long live Pro Tools (but h

Wow, if true, that's very interesting indeed! But why would Digi make a point of the 18 channel disclaimer if it isn't actually true? Perhaps Digi's 18 channel disclaimer is outdated?

What isn't...

Re: 003: PT LE is dead! Long live Pro Tools (but h

Froyo, i've watched the same pattern, with interest. But when you say "one of two things happen," there's actually a third possibility, which is the one that guides me: staying in communication, in...

Re: 003: PT LE is dead! Long live Pro Tools (but h

Indeed! In fact, i'd assert that, in the case of the LE line at least, Digi charges *mostly* for the software, because the software is great and the hardware is bargain-basement electronics in a...

Re: 003: PT LE is dead! Long live Pro Tools

Again, it's great to read the thoughtful discussion here. (And refreshing to see that it is so respectful! Thanks everyone! :-) )

A quick reply to froyo's articulate post.

I agree with just...

Re: 003: PT LE is dead! Long live Pro Tools (but h

Indeed! I would also much prefer a digital-only unit, as i've said in the past (http://duc.digidesign.com/favlinker.php?Cat=&Entry=23652&F_Board=UBB24&Thread=811302&partnumber=&postmarker=).

OK,...

Re: 003: PT LE is dead! Long live Pro Tools

I've been clocking my 002 to a UA 2192 for a couple of years, and now a Mytek 8x192, and it makes a world of difference! The two S/PDIF channels produce the best results, of course, because they...

Re: 003: PT LE is dead! Long live Pro Tools (but how?)

I agreed with all you said except this last bit, with which i'd like to dissent respectfully. The features we're asking for (surround mixing, 192k support, flexible I/O, ADC, integrated OMF/AAF...

003: PT LE is dead! Long live Pro Tools (but how?)

Wow...

Like the rest of you, i'm flummoxed by the colossal non-event embodied in the 003 release.

So many of Digi's most dedicated users made our wishes so clear in our feature requests and in...

Re: How well does 002r clock to external 96kHz?

Built-in FW port on the G5 Quad.

Yeah, i usually remember to switch it back to internal before i quit, but whenever i forget, there's a "gotcha" next time i start up, which besides being annoying...

Re: How well does 002r clock to external 96kHz?

I clock my 002r externally 90% of the time (working at 88.2/96k almost exclusively), and it works very well. The only issue i've had is a bug that prevents PTLE from launching if 002r is clocked...

Re: SURROUND TOOLKIT

I also had to try it. Took 3 regions of the same length, exported them as files, renamed them 1.L, 1.C, and 1.R, and did "import audio to track," selected those 3 files, and it imported them IN PTLE...

Re: Pro Tools 7.3 LE...and other stuff from AES

Yes, wow, that's really good news for me... might actually be able to keep using my favorite GUI (that would be Pro Tools).

Thanks for sharing these encouraging tidbits!

Re: Digi report card & prospects for surround

davidchristopher, i would love the unit you describe. i think it would be something other than a "digi 003," because realistically speaking they'll certainly put mic preamps in the 003. But what we...

Re: MBox 2 Pro DOES NOT support 96 kHz with S/PDIF

DigiCS, thank you *so much* for the clear answer! It's a bummer (for Digi as much as us, i'm sure), but at least we have an answer, which makes planning easier.

If Digi can update the chipset in...

Re: MBox 2 Pro DOES NOT support 96 kHz with S/PDIF

LoZion, you make a valid point, but it doesn't apply to everyone - namely, pros with top-end external clocks who benefit from external clocking. Those who subscribe to the Dan Lavry school of...

Re: 002/PTLE 7.1.1 & Mbox 2 Pro/PTLE 7.1.2 on same

Yes, but the question is, can i install *both* versions on the same computer - and specifically on the same partition, since my laptop doesn't have room for a second partition?

Re: MBox 2 Pro DOES NOT support 96 kHz with S/PDIF

Thank you, JCBigler. I had written to Digi asking the same question 3 days ago and still haven't received an answer, so this explains it.

That makes the Mbox 2 "pro" pretty worthless to me (since...
