Re: Avid Complete Plug Ins Bundle, I can't renew my subscription

Same here - went to start a new session and added a plug-in only to discover it wasn’t licensed and the refresh on Ilok only worked on Falcon.

Re: New Solid State External Hard drives ???

SSDs also degrade in performance over time and will fail sooner than a spinning drive.

Re: pt 8.0.3 - in a 32 bit or 64 bit kernel startup mode

Not really, this is in regards to the as yet unreleased version of PT for Snow Leopard. You can get the pre-release (beta) but I would only recommend it to users who

Re: mac comparisons

kinda depends on what ProTools rig you're getting/have because any of the current digi's require firewire whereas the mBox only need USB. Obviously, the more money you spend, the more you are going...

Re: Digidesign Mbox 2 Micro

I bought mine as part of my upgrade plan from 7.4 -> 8.0.

I mainly use a 003. The biggest caveat is that the micro will not support the higher bitrates for tracks, so you have to stay at the 44/48...

Question NI Komplete - worthwhile?

Looks like NI has a fire sale going on with Komplete at $399. Is this a worthwhile addition to ProTools or is it a lot of the same thing? It seems like a lot of the instruments are duplicated with...

Re: why would i need an mbox if i already have the 003?

How long ago did you buy it? Are you using 2 computers simultaneously?

I'd talk to the manager and if you don't get satisfaction there, escalate until you do. Define exactly what you want to have...

Re: I need A new Setup for PT my computer keeps crashing!

MacBook Pro can certainly handle PTLE if you are looking to upgrade in that direction. I wouldn't upgrade just because things are not setup properly - only if you've reached the upper boundary of the...

Re: Recording to a Macbook Pro question...

I haven't had any issues yet with mixing a FW 800 drive and a 003.

I purchased an expressCard to move the drive off the internal bus, but didn't realize it wouldn't bus power the hard drive. So I...

Re: recorded midi is playing different instrument

Only when you are recording the audio track - the midi/instrument track could care less. You can start out recording one bass and switch to a completely different instrument later.

This also...

Re: recorded midi is playing different instrument

The triton is two things in this setup - the midi controller and the sound generator. Once you record the midi into a track in PT, you don't need the triton to act as a controller - but you do still...

Re: Major comp. problem - considering reverting to 002 rack instead 003 rack, good mo

Any LE setup is going to be host-based, so unless you get your computer fixed, it will probably continue to occur. Better to get it fixed now with a little hassle while under warranty.

Re: PT LE 8 on Unibody MacBook for a week...

should be fine if you aren't recording audio - ie, just playing around with midi or mixing existing audio tracks. I wouldn't try to record audio because you'll probably end up with pops and other...

Re: Difference between 6Ghz and 9Ghz

Memory isn't going to help if you are maxing out your CPU cycles. The difference in performance can be the difference to make a glitch free mix - but that means you are really pushing your system to...

Re: pt8 seems so vurnerable

Are you using FireWire attached to the cardbus or the 800 port on the macbook?

Do you have everything turned off (airport, time capsule, etc) when you are in PT?

Re: Recording to Macintosh HD (Macbook Pro)

SSD is great for random access because there are no heads to move - however audio is not random access...its very linear so once you jump to the starting point, the heads don't really jump around....

Re: PTLE 8 with M-box 2 on Macbook causing headache.

Make sure you are fully compliant with this page:
http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?langid=100&navid=54&itemid=36933

Also, try plugging your mbox into a different usb port. Do not use a hub.

Re: Undesired Frequency... is there any filters for electric power?

You probably don't want to use a filter unless the audio is already done and can't be re-recorded. I've tried to remove a 60 Hz hum that was repressive from a live event. Results were only tolerable.
