Jackson,
Sheesh...forgive my ears... It's the falsetto parts ('again'...and 'pretend') and in the other verses. Please just take it as a complement to your vocal range...

OK. Since I started the original "let´s hear your stuff" -thread, and promised to post my ( or my band´s ) music out, I feel obliged to do so now...

So, if you´d like to hear some, go to:

www.kimble.dot.nu

you´ll find 4 songs, all of them recorded in December 2001.

Post your comments here, and if you have the time, please sign our guestbook at top of the page...

thanks in advance...

kalle,
Pleasant surprise for me...it's really good stuff. 'Thief' blew me away... really. I love the chord changes. Also, you do the loops and stuff, eh? (as well as bass)... great ending to 'Thief'. I'm glad you could finally post some stuff here........Great work. ~Roy

Hi all. It's been a while since I've posted anything in the duc. But I always check out what the latest, greatest at the DUC in this thread are doing. ALways a pleasure to hear such creative writing/recording skills and just great music! Like what I've heard here recently. Good job guys...too many to list

Well, I got something here I beleive some of you wouldn't mind hearing, a project I did some guitar on and other work with the producers (but not in this song) that will soon be released. This is a remix the artist did pre the 15 song cd release http://members.rogers.com/hawkizer/TheWayWeWere.mp3

Also link to the her web page http://www.jakki.ca/

Tracked 24ch Analog(Otari), mixed/edited in Pro Tools TDM, mastered to analog. Let me know what you guys think...

You deserve it, Kalle. I listened to 'Thief' again about an hour ago. The chorus chords are strong, man...(plus the 'pretty' breakdown chords too). I love stuff I can't figure out in the first pass, but that still grows better.

I just finished a cd. You can hear sound files at www.cdbaby.com/guitarrasycongas
Of the four tunes here, two were recorded on blackface ADATS, one on 16 track one inch tape, and one on 24 bit pro tools-I've been working on this record a looooong time. All were mixed at a TDM studio , but many of the parts were recorded at my home studio with an 001. Thanks for any comments.

GP,
Nice, man...is that you doing the 'chink' guitar parts? I had not heard of Jakki, but she's an excellent singer... very unique voice. Good job.

and MartinC,
This is an excellent example of recording on the 001, and then mastering with TDM. Great guitar work, both classical and electric...and the violinist is superb. Great recording, IMO.

Thanks for letting me hear it, Roy

Roy man. You're almost at 1000 posts. That's CRAZY!!! It would be funny if at 999 Digi wiped

I know, that would be sumpin... By the way, I do apologize for the childish post (by me) yesterday. I thought you were dissing all the music that's been posted here . But, I think I was being a little rash about it. Please forgive me for that if you would.

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

No problem. I like everybody here and their music too. I don't know if you remember but there was a guy buy the name of Paul Patras that posted here when "Latest Stuff" was just a fledgling thread. He was probably contributer #8 or #9. Anyway, I liked his song so much that I actually emailed him and told him how awesome a song it was and how his wife had one of the most beautiful voices I had ever heard. By the way if you only knew how I came up with the idea for my threads and how late in the morning it was when I did them you would laugh your but off like I did. Maybe I'll tell the story one day. Hi Skip,
I can definitely tell you that I am not a good singer. I do produce some great singers in the studio, but my main instrument is indeed the guitar. 'Brother's Keeper' is a group of 3 incredible singers, though, and I'm proud to have 2 songs on their newest CD, 'Cover Me'.
Thanks again for your kind comments.

Blond & Tan sounds awesome, Roy!

check it out - on the topics page where you see the number of replies -> bear in mind its the number of replies, not the number of posts. so if it reads 999, that really means there are 999 replies + the original post for a total of 1,000 posts...

Roy, you should get both 999 and 1,000 as far as i'm concerned. and when we get to 1,000,000 (if it doesn't crash the bbs server first) you should get that too!

Hello Peoples.
I have a new song up called "Drive" Its taken me about 9 months to get it to where I want. The end is a little messy, but, I liked that.

Anyway, please check it out, and spit me some opinions. Thanks, I look forward to hearing from some of you.

CP,
You obviously don't feel that you have to be confined creatively, and that's great, man. It's very interesting stuff. Let me ask you, is one of the guitars an acoustic run through slight distortion? Because I really like it. And the ending is cool, too. Keep creating, man...

Captain_Pants 08-19-2002 06:04 PM

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

I believe all of the guitar(Excluding bass) in the song is done on an Ovation thin-body guitar mic'd and direct, with a Danelectro Distortion pedal. The sound that takes the song home is a $150 Casio synth flute sound run through that same distortion pedal. Drums are sampled and slowed down from another of my songs; hence that electric stutter sound they have.

Which guitar sound are you talking about by the way?

Yes Roy, it is up now, I guess there was a delay at MP3.com. According to my account it was up as early as yesterday, but when I checked the page, it wasnt up yet.. oh well, its there now.

Well hey there people, we have a new one up. Some very hip vocal treatment on this tune using AutoTune and Pitch-n-Time, plus a 2-Tap stereo delay. Drums sounds from the TR808/909, lots of modulation on the instrumentals using Enigma. We think it's very different (and very good!). Give it a listen at:
Waiting for your heart

Thanx much,

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

Thank you Roy! We are based in Germany. That was a complex tune (for me) to produce. The instrumental work (most of it is actually guitar) took up most of the capacity of the session with all the effects that were going down, so I made a guide track and did the vocals running 4 AutoTunes at once in a seperate session. Lots of tweaking on the AutoTunes! Got the blue screen of death several times doing this. After they were done, I bounced them to disk and then imported the track into the original session. This is a good trick for those of you who haven't thought of it before. We are trying to get a more up to date sound in our future productions, and this was the first attempt. Glad you enjoyed it!

Mixed on Yamaha NS-10s, BTW!

Best,

Dr.John

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

Dr. John,
I do separate 'mini sessions' constantly to achieve what I hear for my main session, OR I also will use the main session, scrapping many of my keeper tracks, just to make a great sample to import back. But, when I do it that way, I just don't save the session (in other words, I bounce what I want into a file first, so it's there for later). Then, when I come back into the main session, everything is as before, but I have my killer samples to import back into it.
I'm working on a thing using Harley samples right now, and am about to post it.(pretty cool).
Anyway, great job! Part of what makes this interesting is thinking it out first, know what I mean?
Later, Roy

It sometimes gets to the point where I draw a flowchart....But you are right, just thinking about how to manage the production is half the fun......Looking forward to your post!

Great thread...a lot of interesting music being made out there.

A couple of "in-progress" mixes for the CD project I'm working on can be found at www.immovablemover.com

(Some of the tracks within these mixes were recorded prior to my move up to 24-bit with a questionable signal path, but I tried to salvage them as best I could.)

It made me want to get on a Harley and ride really fast with my chain saw whiping in the air. Very cool... In writing a song like 'burn', what is your creative process in writing a song like that? What synth type stuff are you doing/using?

Keep on keepin' on!
