Chucktoledo,
I can get your website (very nice), but the song link isn't working for me. I definitely want to hear it..... thanks, Roy

Chris Cavell,
Version 'C' of the jazz sounds superb to me.....I'll be listening to this driving along the ocean pretty soon... Just sent you an email on the 'Bigfoot' masters.

Chris,

hearing your music and your latest mix I think there is not much that I can say that you don't already know. Also I just came from a jam in my neighbourhood and my ears are somewhat numbed now. But it appears to me as if you did a retake on the bass, at least, it seems to have more tone definition of it's own, less 'overtalk' (what's the word, bleed?) through the mic. The overall sound is easier yet dynamic, less pressure and more space. That's how it sounds to me. Astonishing work in my ears, musically also.

Back to my guitar lessons but ......

Chucktoledo I tried to open your webpage but the link gave me a blanco IE screen. Hope to hear some of your music but right now I cannot open your page. Later I hope

Jon 'Fingerwolf', I really like the sound of the bass in the composition on your page. I like that in combination with the acoustic, live drums (being not midi). The progression of the chords makes sense to me, but I think you can do something about the melody from the piano. Could be a bit more developed, right now it seems like it lacks direction. Sounds are really nice, also the synth, but the song as a whole needs some more work. For a first PTLE product however it's really not bad, when talking in terms of good/bad/etc. Interesting to see what it's gonna be after some time.

It's been some time since I made any new stuff. http://www.xs4all.nl/~walterp5/Porn%20Funk.mp3 This I made for the Porn Funk contest. Midi bass, looped acoustic drums some times also midi drums (Waldorf PPG VST inst), some ducks from a cd and some guitar fragments. Just a snippet, but nice to have Rewire at least in Cubase for the moment. Any criticism is welcome. Hope to come up with some new stuff later, there are some ideas in my head and also there is a piece I'm working on. Meanwhile I'll be lurking around

Good luck all,

Walther

Walther,

The bass wasn't a retake...I posted some of the methods I used to revive it over on nikki's forum if you want to check them out (look a few posts down, the one on June 28th is the beginning post for this tune):

Thanks for the compliments,

There ya go. It definitely sounds better, the bass, but this is caused by your mixing and not by a retake. Quite deceptive, maybe this says something about your skills as producer too. Comparing your mixes a, b & c there proves to be a lot possible only by different ways a mixing/mastering. You got me there ......

Thanks, Ev...

I want to thank Chris Cavell for doing an excellent job of mastering 'Bigfoot Moon'. He gave me a choice of 2 separate master mixes, A and B. If you get a chance, listen and see which one you prefer. ('A' is definitely the best to me).
(Thanks, Chris)
