XProd, I am using PT exclusively for tracking and mixing(though that song wasnt really mixed that good). For Wave Manipulation, I use Goldwave, or outboard gear. As far as Drums, I just find the sound I need. It may be me slapping a cardboard box with a hammer, and then manipulating the sound to whatever I want it to sound like. Or, sometimes, if it sounds right, Ill use the drums on my Triton Le, but usually I take and manipulate my drums to avoid outside duplication. As far as gridding, I grid all my drums manually. Every few measures I add some sort of fill or change the pattern for a measure just so it doesnt become so standard in your mind as you listen to it. I hoped I answered your questions?

Yes you did...thanks. I'm just pretty new to MIDI, sampling, loops..etc. I wasn't sure if music incorporating the above noted was "easy" in PT. I've been strictly live instruments since I've owned the DIGI 001 and I always "hear" how PT isn't that good for MIDI based music..blah blah blah. It's nice to hear good music like yours being produced within PTLE.

Well, thank you for the compliments. MIDI isnt really that bad once you get to know it. I used to think it was bad, but Roy showed me a few things, and some others showed me some things, now I use it for about %50 of my songs. Its just so easy to use now. If you have any questions I might be able to help you, try:

Or, as always, the DUC guys are a dictionary of knowledge compared to my napkin of information.
Thanks again for the compliments!

No, not really But I will still appreciate, if you can tell me some comments/feedback (or advice).

Hello All,

Here is a tune I did recently. I did all the parts with some help from MIDI on the bass line and part of the drum track. I decided to experiment with a mixture of live drums and MIDI drums on this tune. Let me know what you think of the drum sound. It is called Down The Road. You can find it at:

Have Fun,

A lot of new stuff has been posted lately...I am behind on listening to recent stuff myself, (been a little busy), but I'm gonna try and catch up ASAP.

Novice Dollars/Sean...
I heard 'Can't Sleep' last night, and really enjoyed it. I've liked everything you've posted so far, as a matter of fact. Very fresh and creative, I think. Another good job... thanks, Roy

bassist,
I really enjoyed listening to 'Margaret's Waltz'. All the acoustic instruments are recorded well, and I especially like the mandolins. Good job. By the way, is that a dobro I hear back there, or just slide on an acoustic guitar? thanks, Roy

I finally got a chance to listen to a few all at once:

neatguys/Dave-

Well, I enjoyed hearing '9 daze' and 'above the clouds' again...very nice stuff...and 'Lend me a Koto' could be in an oriental film. Sounds like you had fun doing that one... thanks, Roy (by the way, I saw you ask in a thread, but I traded amps yet... maybe this week though. thanks again for your help).

metaltim-

I finally heard 'everyday'. Nice percussion, as always. Man, the harmonies on the chorus parts are really interesting. Did you use anything special for that? Nice job overall.

Micah777-

What a great song! It makes me want to be there... The vocalist is really unique, though I agree with Aussie169 that it could come up a touch. Nice choice of instruments...the congas are nice. The arrangement's perfect, IMO... Good job!

guitarBigsky-

I think you did a very good job with this group. Very clean production...you can hear everything that's there. Nice mix...

bjoneill74-

Very interesting piece, very progressive. So many changes, but they flow well, and the vocal effects sound good where you've used them. Good stuff. thanks, Roy

billt-

Well, I think can hear the famous billt cymbals and hats here and there in your song. Interesting stuff. I pulled out one of my billt Zildjans for something the other day. They sound really nice too... thanks Roy

Gene Backlin-

Very nice as usual... I really like the material you choose to do, and it sounds like you have become comfortable recording and mixing it now. Good job.

Thanks for letting me listen. I'll try to catch anything I may have missed soon.

I sent my friend, pk_hat, a mandolin sample I had created, and he wrote this around it. It's tentatively titled 'Southern Chill'.
