Lost my MacHardDrive icon from desktop

Lost my MacHardDrive icon from desktop and finder side window.
I can pretty much navigate to any folder by using Go To Folder menu command of finder.
However, it is very inconvenient.
I do not know why my mac drive icon is lost from my desktop.
My external drive icons stlll show up.

Any ideas ???

Check your Finder preferences.
