Alright I'm not really finished mixing this yet so it's a little sloppy still... my biggest problem is the drum machine. I did this session for my little brother and when they set up the drums they had the cymbals too loud and not enough kick. We didn't sync w/ midi so I was kinda stuck w/ a crappy drum track. I just want to know basically what you think of the guitar and vocal sounds. (and I'm sure they'd like to hear what you think of the song).

www.mp3.com/skyline_fracture

The song I'm posting about is called Density There are two other songs Come to Show which is actually mixed and finished. (my first Protools session ever). And the last one is called Lasting Time and it's mix is horrible at the moment but I'm working on it Thanks guys.

www.outerspaceloveproject.com (my band, no PTLE mixes here yet but there will be soon... we're in the process of rerecording most everything.)

chucknkd, that's not my band I love Kings X though. I'm sure Skyline Fracture was influenced a little by them (they are from the same town ) But almost everytime I hear a drop D guitar tuning it makes me think of Kings X.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Hi Roy,

I tried to download City Streets, but couldn't get the link to work. I'm curious to hear, your previous songs (Shut up Babe and Springtime Girls) were pretty much little toppers so I really wanna hear this one.
And I was happily surprised to find a whole JJ Cale album on debon.de. This brings back old memories . Thanks for this one. I'll try tomorrow and see if I can listen to City Streets.
Take care,
Voideco

Hey Voideco,
Yes, DaB's site is down temporarily, so Joe let me put 'Flowers of the Desert' on his ftp site for a while (which is full of J.J.Cale songs).
Hopefully, DaBasstard will be back up soon, though, and I'm gonna put the missing songs back.

I always appreciate your positive comments...

Don't know ... You mean the one that must have all the songs on it that were posted on your ftp site? I can send you some wav's when you have your ftp setup again. There was enough for at least two cd's, I thought ... I think we should just do it.

roy, i like your new song, i like most of you songs (i only say most cause i havn't heard them all )

have you ever done slide guitar w/ distortion over a rock riff like aerosmith's young lust (first solo) or fallen angels or do you only do more "ballad" sounding slide work? i'm just curious cause i love your slide work if it indeed slide guitar i'm hearing (like in my personal favorite of yours - sleepy moon".

Hi biOforce1,
I had posted something else, but it made no sense whatsoever...I was eating ice cream, and was woozie... Anyway, I've played about every kind of slide imaginable, hard or soft, tunings or standard. I rarely do cover songs anymore though unless I'm jamming with someone.

How about you? Are you a guitarist too?

thanksroy

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

Thought I might say it in this thread, as I can't find the DUC-cd thread at the mo', I put three wav's on www.voideco.com/New for the DUC-cd.

Also, I put four pieces on the web which I hadn't published yet. Like most of the rest I have put up, they are not fully completed as whole songs, but quite well recorded I think and nice concepts.

Hope & Faith I like for the melody especially, Dismal Science has a funny sample (scraping throat) and is very well recorded (to my humble opinion ), Meditation is a continiouing didgeridoo with singing bowls. There's no melodical theme in it, the didge plays constantly at G#, the singing bowls don't play the rhytm but have a very nice sound. I'm also very content with Bear with me for the recording.

I'd like to hear your comments.

C u around,

Voideco

is it possibly to turn those wav. 's into mp3s so it doesnt take so long to dl?

Roy Howell 07-24-2002 11:04 PM

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

Hi Voideco,
Yes, it would be far better if they were MP3's. That's what most of us do to make the downloading bearable.
Let me suggest you get MusicMatchJukebox, which is FREE when you download the Basic version. I've posted the URL below, but if it doesn't work just do a simple search and you'll find it. Download the 'Basic' version, which is FREE.
Once you get it, all you have to do is go under File/Convert... and on the left side, find the file these WAV/songs of yours are in, Hit 'Start' and it will convert them to MP3's.
Again it's FREE and very simple.

Looking forward to hearing the songs...Thanks, Roy

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

Hi Roy and biOforce,

the same songs are on www.voideco.com as mp3's, I just put them as wav's in the subfolder to have a better soundquality on the cd.
My remark about the wav's belongs in the cd thread actually, but in my eyes this is an adjacent subject, so for the time being ....

I can either upload daBasstards ftp to save him the d.l. time (have to find his address somewhere, but that'll be no problem), or put mp3's in the subfolder. If I give dB mp3's , he'll need time to convert them three to wave again anyway so a time loss's gonna be somewhere somehow.

You're welcome to enlisten Goldfish, Little Brother & Galactic Storm on the URL above - the songs are old though and I think most of you have heard them. I find it amazing that still people visit my site (according to my server's report), 'cause I haven't put much important new stuff on it for a long time.
I use the subfolder for data sharing only.
Cheers all,
Voideco

Bump.

No good staying up 36 hours, smoking a severe spliff and then posting on the DUC . Some people come home drunk late at night and go doing bank bussiness, money transfers and bussiness investments for fun (it's so easy with a pc ).
They get scared the s**t out of them when a few days later they see what they did.

Edited my post and on we go ....

Footprints (Nike Commercial )

Is that an actual Nike commercial in production?
I mean, nice job on the music and all, but will this air on TV with that infamous God narration?

Just curious.

nice track, cool vocal manipulation. My only gripe is that the song is very, very long and that complete change of direction halfway just about threw me off guard.
Nicely done overall, though.

Does the content of the Nike commercial offend you? I ask because it was done on spec. It may never see the light of day.

Just interested in your opinion.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">it would only offend me if nike actually used it. it equates nike with God, and thats not nice. i doubt they'd run it anyway. its really in poor taste.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">nope, doesn't offend me at all, I was just curious about this sort of content to hit the mainstream. I could see a lot of uproar about it, especialy in these days where the world is not well. Some would say such a thing is needed, and I can understand that, while others may see it as the problem. Again, good work on the music.

I also did a spec for Nike in january, I was competing against Groove Armada, and they won the spot
They sure are fun to do.

synthguy99 07-26-2002 03:08 PM

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

For some reason, something about the spot bugged me. Something in the narrator's voice, or maybe it was subliminal messages, which I'm sure Nike piles into it's commercials. You can't exactly accuse Nike of being a pure company, after all.

The subject and music were fine tho. Sometime I need to take a break and listen to all these tracks!!
