Oh yeah!

Song just starts playing here, good start. This one's got balls! Could use some vocals or so, it doesn't really come to a climax. But well played and the mix is ok too.

Like to here this one in a further stade.

I Know

Good song, I like it not going too bangy on drums and guitars. Meaning, there's good melody in it and not too much 'violence' in the song. Voice sounds intruiging to me.
Mixwise, this sounds ok to my ears, perhaps you could improve some details to your likings. This would be the finer work....

Hi all, 3 songs to hear on my site : www.i-snor.com

The site is only in french for the moment, but wait for 2 weeks ! All you have to do is click on "français", then on the little dog icon on the top of the landscape, and choose your song...

- "Ovale" is a very complicate mix, all done in Pro Tools LE with high end gear attached and a lot of patience. Please note that I have played this one live... alone ! Only an extract here, as the piece is 8 mn long, but wait for the big drums !

- "Peur du Noir" means "afraid of the dark", it's a terrifying one I guess, as I wanted to re-create a childish fear. The mix is simpler but the ambiance is quite "hard"...

- "Superstar" is a more classical thing, made in fact as a song for a movie, here in France. Vocal, guitar, bass and drums.

Please note that I have played everything here except the bass on Ovale and Superstar...

Thanks for your comments guys, and congrats for your work Doc, Roy and the others... I'm listening to many of your stuff at the moment - most of them very well done ! Will post comments in a while.

Huh?

What's with this hostility? So now just because someone can't understand you, you swear at them and use hostile language? HUH?

Take it easy little man. I am not certain you know this (or would admit it), but your English (on a primarily English forum) may not be easy for English speaking people to understand.

This is supposed to be fun. And, I did not ask for a critique. It is not supposed to have lyrics, it is supposed to emulate the American sound of the 70's. Understand?

Now, crawl back in your little Socialist hole and have a good day.

Ahh, you take it for critique that I suggested some lyrics or vocals in your song? It's not that, it's only a suggestion, merely pointing out that, although I like the overall sound of your song, in my opinion it's not yet finished. Seems to have hurt a lot.

How many foreign languages do you speak? Did it ever occur to you that somebody who's mother language is not English (or American if you like) does the best he can approaching you English talking people and that you as such are in a very comfortable position there? How much more convenience do you want? For someone showing his enthousiasm like I did I think you could have shown some more interest than only "Huh?" That's why I got hostile.

Now you powerful american dreamboy seem to like politics a lot, considering your reply which is as emotional and irrational as my prior reply to your impolite reaction. However I don't consider myself a socialist and as far as I know I didn't vent any opinions making me look as one. So where you got that from, well, guess you have to be American to understand that. I mean, the real American man, maybe like Sylvester Stallone or so.....

Yes, better no lyrics in your song, that'd be a disaster. I like the vibe though, really. Think it's a good concept but to say it could use some more in it proved to be too insulting for you, so I'll stick to saying: Marvellous, fantastic, a masterpiece, great job! Nothing more to add to it.

Does that feel better? Do you understand now? There may be some errors in my writing but you'll certainly understand their literate meaning. If not, well, that'd explain more about you but I don't think anyone would benefit from that.

Walther.

I am so frightened on the DUC today.... What is going on...

All I thought was the song sounded very 80's ish, and NOT 70's. Just because there is a Wha pedal and a slight hint of some retro funk does not make it ole' school 70's. However, I did like the tune and also feel that it is lacking something. The development has started, now make it work. I also feel that the breakdown section fell apart some. Needs to be tighter, maybe cut it up and snap it to a grid to make it work. Otherwise, you have a good thing going...

Now what the HELL is all of the B.S. going on for.. Not sure about you guys, but it is 75 out, sunny and time to get outside.. Been mixing all day! Whooped and need some air!

Now only the lyrics, hmmmm........ Powerjoe how about collaborating on some beefy texts? We seem to be getting along quite well!

Some 90's samples 'huh's and 'ha's, with a funky sound behind them and a rap battle.

I have listened both times you posted. Nice songs, good recording all though I am not really into hard sreaming metal any longer. You guys are talented. Snare is a bit loud on the first one...(midnight fires?) Not as bad on the second one.

Good work, keep it up, lower the snare!

Pfff... man that was stupid !

Hey Voideco, you got a nice groove for a socialist , but anyway I think there lacks something in the second part of the first song, when the guitar stops and the voice sings the "chosen one" part. To me it's like the song is really weakening at that moment, but on the whole it's cool ! Maybe you could push the basses a bit, but I'm not sure as I listened with headphones (it's late around here).

By the way, I hope you don't have any problem with my french accent ?

BLAH BLAH BLAH!!! Get over it all.. Making this post look bad. Kinda stupid..... ya know...

Post tunes, get ideas, opinions, etc. That is what it is about. There are tons of stuff, good and bad and in between on here. We are all trying to make it work and the aid of others is what it is all about and HAS been about. Stop the B.S. press on, and go from there...

Starting to remind me of "STREETS!" and that crap ended real fast!

All,
This is yet another project I started about 2 weeks ago. Good kids, young! 14 and 15 year olds. I went in and replaced the kick and snare on this and tried to blend the two together, Seemed to work well. Drummer played to a click pretty solid so editing was easier. The singer is 14 years old, about to be 15. Typical Green Dayish tone found in most modern music it seems. Not bad though. Took some time with the drums on this one, and so far like them.

They recorded six tunes and so far they are all pretty good.

Plethra of Pres and mics used on this.

The kids are alright!

thank-you, this isn't my band, just a band I recorded. I've been getting away from the heavier music as well lately but one good thing is that it's easier to record when bands want to jam out songs fast if they have a low budget.

one thing i've been going for lately actually is a louder snare, so I was happy with these recordings. after listening to it though i needed to eq the kick a bit differently though, wasn't too happy with how it turned out.

That's pretty impressive indeed! Are all musicians in that song 'bout 14/15 years old? Dumm question perhaps as I can read it in your post but this sounds very professional, I wouldn't give them that age. Very talented kids.

Yep! None of them can drive... I took this one and really put a lot of time into it getting the sounds that I thought would work. Replaced (doubled and replaced the kick) and then blended the two. Strip silenced every 2 measures or so, and then soundreplaced the kick on the second track. The snare I replaced entirely minus the roll parts with a shot that he did at the beginning. So for once, that is my snare (working well) through the song. Seemed to fill the gaps better and solidify the song more I think

The singer is 14 about to be 15 in 2 weeks. No harmonies for this one. The others have some though and seem to work well. I was impressed for sure I never did stuff like this at 14/15. More PRIMUS oriented back then, so wierd was a "Good thing!" The others will be good too I hope.

Thanks for listening.

Hey guys, if you could please listen to my raygay song and give me your thoughts on it I'd really appreciate it. Its the first song I've ever mixed and recorded entirely myself. (The only thing the band told me was they want their cymbals bright and low in the mix.) Theres alot of noise maker type instruments in it so maybe you guys can tell me what fits and what doesnt, tonal balance, levels, compression, or anything I might need to work on.

SG-

Sounds good. nice tune. good arrangement. Really like your drums (engineering - great imaging.)

Could be fine tuned and "polished" a bit more in spots but I think you did a good job. Some autotune in spots, and there a few timing issues here and there with the drummer, but not showstoppers.

Wow, thanks so much. I spent a good amount of time on the drum sounds. The drummer is the 16, the youngest in the band and he's off here and there but I didnt want to make him sound robotic, since thats the way they play anyway. (Less work for me)

Thanks for the feedback. I think the band will be happy too.

Hey all,

The other day I posted a really silly music clip that I thought might be amusing. Afterward, I got pretty ragged with a person for critiquing it. It was a stupid thing to do and it brought the tone down here.

I am really sorry about that and I understand that it did nothing to help improve this thread. In fact, it made it worse for a little while. I rescinded my posts regarding it because they did nothing to make a point and they were not positive.

I am sorry for all that and will not lay into someone here, publicly for criticizing what I post ever again. EVERYONE is entitled to an opinion. If I disagree, I will do so with respect and understanding and will try to let others help me, even when I (naively) think I don't need it.

This is a great forum. One that has helped me immensely and I appreciate all of you and what you bring to it.

Thanks for listening.
