Good Job Jarkko! Can't wait to hear it with vocals!

What's your set-up there? I like it! Keep it up dude!

Thanks Rick! I also would like to hear the song with vocals asap because we will be playing it live on the 15th

The drums were recorded with Roland VS-2400CD with Shure PGDMK6 Drum Mic Kit.

The drum tracks were then burned to a CD and imported into Pro Tools.

My Guitar and bass were connected directly to my MBox and send through Amplitube.

So nothing big but we had alot of fun recording!

I believe you have a handle on your mixes, especially the bottom end, what are you hearing on your system there as far as mix

thanks,
keith

Keith,
I had missed your question...I think your mix is fine. I would simply bring up the low end overall. On my heavier stuff, I tend to make my mixes bass and drum heavy, with everything else simply clear and audible (in general anyway), but that's a matter of preference. I really like some of your guitar sounds.

Ole,

Fantastic songwriting, great vocals & arrangments. Could be me but I hear some phase issues with the cymbals (overheads?), I'm listening really quiet so I could be wrong. Really liked all 3 songs though.

Rick, very nice work...your experience surely shows through..BTW, when you coming back over to see my new (old 1981 JCM 800 modded) Marshall?

Thanks Keith!

Yeah I'd like to hear that Splawn Modded Marshall! I bought my son a JCM 2000 100 watter for christmas. I inherited his Blue Voodoo head. I'm going to check out those Randall MTS models that Michael Wagener turned me on to. Man they smoke!! Let me know when you have time for us to check out your marshall!

Take care!

Re: Mac Mixes!!!!!!!!

Hi,
Would be interested in hearing comments, criticism and suggestions regarding this mix and/or "song"
I was going after the big production feel of some of my favorite "old" bands so I'm sure it will sound somewhat dated to some on this list.
The title of the song refers to the Rickenbacker 360-12 that is the featured instrument of the song.
The drums are Drums On Demand loops. http://www.drumsondemand.com/
Thanks,

Re: Happy New Year

Hey Guys,

This is my first attempt in Protools since I got set up just under 1 month ago.
I had written this tune on guitar and put a very basic idea down in my old cubase rig. Having only had that for about 7 months I had a lot to learn about production and mixing techniques but put my all into this one.

Its a pop tune sung and played by myself.
The acoustic is a Yamaha APX 9, electric a Les Paul Studio going through a Marshall Guv'Nor Plus pedal into a 100 watt H&H Electronics amp mic'd with a Behringer XM2005 mic.
Vocals are through a rode NT1A into a Focusrite Penta.
Thats all I can think of right now.
Bass was borrowed from a friend, played direct through Izotope trash.

Care to take a listen

http://www.geocities.com/boarderguyx

I think this site only works when it pleases so you may have to check back a couple of times. I dont have any space of my own, this is borrowed from a friend.

Sorry,

Its the worst webspace I've ever used. It must have used up all the bandwidth letting me upload the song.

Anybody have any idea where I can get some free space or somewhere to host my song?

I'm on Soundclick.com but the normal accounts only allow 128kb mp3s and 192kb sounds much better.

Try again later maybe.

Ole,
These songs are exceptionally good, and so is the singer(Tobias Stenkjaer, right?). Each one of them is very well written and sung...love the guitars too. Are you engineering this?

I started from point zero a year ago, when I got the 001. I have never engineered anything before that. So I am very happy, if my songs sound good to you. Thanks.

I have to give our drummer the credit for that as he's the one who wrote this one. We will start recording our demo in about two weeks from now. I'll be posting our songs so you people can push me in the right direction (I hope you have the time) when it comes to my engineering and mixing.

It took me a while to get it posted so I hope its worth it.

I also just noticed theres a nasty little click at the very end of the mp3. I cant be bothered to fix that now, hope nobody gets a fright.

This needs mastered and hopefully shall be soon once I get everything together.

That’s why I check this board out every few hours. I am very impressed with the amount of talent here and I think they are much better than the junk that gets played on the radio. I also find it helps me with ideas when writing my own songs. I will hear stuff that I like (licks or chord progressions) and try to experiment to recreate a certain sound (like Roy’s Gat) that I have heard. Keep the songs coming please!

Hi,

Thanks for listening to the songs. Glad to hear that you like them.

Sorry (Roy), I can't take any credit for the quality of the songs/productions/recordings. Tobias is the main man behind it all - He wrote the songs, played the guitartracks, sang...

He left the final mixing of the songs to one of his connections in Stockholm, Sweden.

So what did I do then ? - I designed the website!

However, I do have an nice G5/002R setup ready to rock when I feel like it - But I haven't finished any of my own projects lately so you will have to wait a while to here my stuff.

The mix sounds fine Scott! Gotta love those whammy pedals! I wouldn't sweat the drum samples; they sound fine. Maybe throw in a fill or two here and there. Good job!

Thanks Rick, yeah..the pedal is fun. I had a Digitech years ago, but got rid of it. Recently picked up a BOSS ME-50 and am loving it. Thanks for the input. This is sorta my, work the bugs out mix before I dive in and start recording all the tunes. The drums are simple for now, but was more concerned in getting the mix down. So to not waste a tonne of time redoing things later. The lead is mostly improved right now... although there are lot of things I am gonna keep. SO far, all the guitars are tracked direct into my Mbox from the BOSS and the bass is run through an old Peavey Century head into a DI then I run about 4 plugs in PT to get the bass sound I want. I don't have access to any good monitors so that is why I am asking for input on how the mix is sounding. It is sounding good at my end... but you never know :P

Re: Happy New Year

Thanks for the kind words guys

I finally got myself a pair of cheap pc monitors today so I am able to listen to music from the internet. I took a listen to two of your tunes John, I really like alone it has a nice soft melody. I usually set my old casio up with a piano and strings pad and have play to see what I can come up with. I would only ever play ballads on piano when I was younger, my mum couldnt get me to play anything else. I should really get myself a good keyboard, although christmas has passed so it'll be birthday before I get anything new. I'll be 19 then so hopefully if I find some part time work, I can afford some nice keys.

I uploaded one of my other songs into the folder since John asked for more. I wouldnt usually let anybody hear my music. I've always been very self conscious about singing, playing guitar etc in front of people.

It was recorded hmm about summer last year in Cubase SX 2 with a Delta 1010 card.

Maybe someday I'll get to go into the studio and put these songs down properly.

Once again, thank you to John Hey for providing me with some space so I can share my songs with you.

Just wanted to post my latest, which can be found here.

I need to redo the vox (I also need to learn to use graphical mode in a certain, unnamed popular vocal plug),

and I'll think about some eq ideas.

Oh, and gotta love that amp noise, right?! Some kind of isolation for my amp is a project this year. We'll see.

Anyway, would be especially interested in eq ideas.

later,

bp.

p.s., haven't done any listening in awhile, I'm going to listen to stuff from the last few pages now.

Later!!
