I wonder if this link will work. I'm new at the whole upload thing! This is just a silly song I played on and recorded with a band I was in last year. |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Soundsurfr,
For 'Sleepy Moon', I tuned down to a D (Big,little E's and B down a whole step, and G down a half step). It's a 'Moon' D...(ha). Hey, I just heard 'Judging by Appearances', and I love it too. So, like me, you get bored with 'normal' chords too, huh? Well, I really like your sense of theory. It's definitely refreshing. Let us know as new stuff develops... Sounds great. RH mix2much, Couldn't get yours to open. Keep trying. We want to hear it... |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
I guess I have to be signed in for that link to work? Do you guys know of a plce I can post it and make a direct link to?

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Brian,
The way your songs are set up, one has to 'sign up' with MP3.COM just to listen, or at least that's what it does when I try opening your songs. If you can, see if you can set it up to just play your songs directly. I don't really want to sign up with them, but I DO want to hear your stuff.... Thanks, Roy |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
roy..I know..I cant do anythig about it..and i think its a random thing...anyway if u fill in some silly words and a bogus email add. it never bothers u again..
thx for trying.. Brian Uller Denmark |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Uller,
I had to look twice to see if I was listening to the Radio or Winamp. "Shoot me" got my 1 1/2 year old shaking and gooving to the groove. You did all this with the aIII? Good Stuff. Roy, don't be a wimp. Just sign up and check out the tuneage! |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
soundsurfr,
Love the work you did on "Judging By Appearances" Actually all your songs posted. 8 guitar tracks.....does that include duplicate trks? You do a beautiful job of spreading out the acoustic guitar where it gives the impression of a live session. Great work! p.s. would love to jam with ya! |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Brian,
Alright, Brian! Tight and funk-ayyy.....very good, in my opinion. Nice productions with a good simple formula. I think I like 'Lovegun' best, but 'I Will Stay Clear of Clay' is a very pretty song... Nice vocals. Great stuff from Denmark! Thanks for posting it for us... To anybody else, it's easy to fill in a couple of boxes, and it's worth it..... Roy p.s.darren, say What? better smile when you say that... |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
GP - Thanks! Yes the 8 guitars on Judging include doubled pieces. Two of the riffs are doubled - the first riff and the last. Both of those are mixed dry and panned hard left and right. The other overlays were panned to simulate various places in the room and given a touch of D-Verb set on medium room. I was also careful not to get too anal about the timing of the performances, because that takes away from the live feel. Or it could just be an excuse 'cause I suck at timing.
Would love to jam. Where are you located? Sound |

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Hey Roy!Cool tune man(I listened to "shes a spy")Those sounds make me miss the 80's hahaha!Yup,theres nothing like real midi!Live dudes just dont have the same feel...
Im only kidding.I realy dug the tune.I wonder how good that rif would sound played by strings? I have uploaded some more tracks to my site,if you wanna take a listen. Long live MIDIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!! |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Bleep! Had to delete these half-baked Midi songs...
|
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Hi Peter,
Yep, they DO reek of 80's sounds, don't they? (They're old sessions I just ran across). Maybe I should stick to Audio, eh?... Roy |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Brian - Superior funk groove on "Love Gun", man! Excellent recording and production. Where'dja get those female backup singers?
I also listened to "I will stay clear of clay", which I have to admit is one of the cooler song titles I've come across in a while. Your stuff is really good. Thanks for posting it here. Sound |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Hi all,
One old post, one new post. One of the other DUC members here, BillT and I got together and did another version of the last song I posted, "Someone To Play With". Here's links to them both: Acid Drum Version http://www.controlnetcorp.com/~makeM...toplaywith.mp3 Live Drum Verison http://www.controlnetcorp.com/~makeM...meoneLive2.mp3 Let us know what you think of the differences. Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Heavy guitars, and an alt. sound. I just finished recording 4 soungs by "Nowhere", and I've posted one of them. They played at the Roxy Wed night this week. The music is quite good and I would welcome any and all feedback on the engineering! Enjoy
Alone by Nowhere Guitars, bass, vocals, and acoustic drums. |

Hey Royster!
Another good track from you that dance away lover. This is one I'll have to put on cd for those loong roads!Once again the quality of your percussion sound makes me envious like hell! |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Howdy, folks!
If you don't mind, I would like to sheepishly submit a contribution for your critical listening pleasure: http://www.jerfo.com/sounds/fatality3.mp3. What you will hear is me on all instruments (ddrums <sic>, guitars, bass, and synths) and my collaborator, Robin, on vocals. This is only a rough mix, and Robin's vocal is only an unfinished demo (to be rerecorded next week, in fact), but the sound is otherwise fairly well-polished. This was all recorded to a Digi001 on my Dell Precision 330 workstation. I look forward to hearing what you all think of our efforts! - Jerfo |

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Hi Michael/GP,
It's good to hear from you. No, I didn't use GigaStudio on 'Dance Away'. In the intro, I used a loop sample(the Spanish guitar music) I found in the game 'CounterStrike'.(Maybe you heard it playing the game?) The whole piece was just an experiment for me. The 'crowd' is me 20 times, and a couple of female samples thrown in, bounced to one stereo wave track. Then the bongo/conga/triangle session was bounced to one stereo wave. Took those 2, and imported them into the 'Dance Away Lover' session. So, I had a blast doing it during the holiday. I don't use GigaStudio, but if you would like I'll be glad to send you any samples I have. Just let me know..... Roy |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Soundsurfr,
I just listened to Judging By Appearances. Wow! Great sound. The drum track has dynamite power behind it, both in playing and engineering. What mic/preamp setup was used? The guitars sounded excellent as well. billt |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Damn, doesn't anybody just set up mics for drums, gtrs and vocals anymore? What's up with loops, samples, themes from pc games?
|
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
i love mics and so on! I will go into the studio tomorrow and record some stuff the oldfashined way. But the mix in PT ofcourse

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Hey,
I'd be curious to see what everyone thinks of this... It's something I've recorded a while ago but never got around to actually mixing it for the band until recently. It's in the pop/punk/rock vein I guess you could say... Anyway, here's the link, and any constructive comments, criticism, etc is by all means welcome. And hopefully this link works... Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
your link doesn't work....

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Hogleg,
I enjoyed your stuff, and when I saw your question, "Damn, doesn't anybody just set up mics for drums, gtrs and vocals anymore?" As a composer, I've found that these samples, loops, engineering techniques help me create better music, and that's what it's all about. I can always come back to where I've been, and feel at home. But, I would love to see you guys live some time, and I sure would love to sit in witcha sometime... Thanks, Roy |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Roy, excellent work on "Dance Away Lover". Hey, I noticed a few things at the intro...iZotope vinyl, and a track in there I've heard before. Can't quite put a finger on it though. Are you using GigaStudio? If so, I recently bought it(for christmas) and need some help getting it to work right.
Hope you had a great christmas holiday... may the new year bring a fresh and exciting start for all of us! HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL! Regards, Michael "GP" Scott |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Billt -
Thanks - glad you liked the tune. The guitars were miked directly into the digi 001 mic-pre's using an AKG414 (really sweet mike for acoustic guitars, then routed out to a dbx166 compressor and a bbe sonic maximizer(aural exciter)and back into the digi. The drums are acid loops! GP - I just got a gigasampler recently and boy is it a royal pain in the neck to use with PTLE!!! Even though it shows up as a midi port in PT, I have not been able to trigger it directly from Pro Tools. Instead, I have to use a different editing program, create the tracks and record the Gigasampler through a second sound card as an audio track in Pro Tools. Not an acceptable way of working. There's a thread on this somewhere in the forum that might help, or maybe we can e-mail and compare notes. Soundsurfr www.soundsurfr.com |

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Hey, I just finished recording a full length album with my digi 001. There are some clips in the "Listen" section of my site, www.epoch.2ya.com - please ignore the live songs, those were recorded with the soundman's gear at a recent show. "Time Again" was the first full song I ever recorded, so it might not be as high in quality as the others, but I've mixed it for hours and it came out ok. If anyone is interested in hearing the full album, it will be available on the site in a few weeks, it is currently being pressed. Please view the page w/ internet explorer, it donsen't work well with netscape. It's being redone in flash as we speak and will be updated shortly for all browsers. Thanks - Jon

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Jon (nny462) - I just listened to your stuff. I'm not a seasoned listener to the kind of music you guys do, but I think the mix is good. The stereo separation is good which, for an MP3 file is saying a lot, and the vocals seem to be sitting in the right place. (That's one of the hardest things to get right). Nice job, man.
Mark Knecht - I listened to the two versions of the song you posted. I'm almost ALWAYS partial to a live drum track over looped or sequenced drums, but I gotta tell ya, I had a hard time deciding which track I liked better. Not to take anything away from the drummer, he did a great job, but the song kind of lends itself to a loop-generated atmosphere. Either way, cool! Soundsurfr www.soundsurfr.com |
