Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Finally got a chance to listen to your stuff Simon. Sorry it took so long. "These days" kind of reminded me of a Morrissey type feel.
I like the vocals. Very smooth quality to them. Great song writing and melodies! Keep up the good work! |

Octava mics on the vox and guitars. Mr. Seven on the keys. Music/lyrics by Al Kofer as well as vocals. Goodbye |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Mr. Seven,
Really pretty song... nice vocal. Also Darren, sorry about my temper recently. I know you're a good guy, and you've helped me often in the past. Hope you'll consider me as a friend... Roy |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Roy - we all have our good and bad days. There's no hard feeings. You're an honorable man, Roy, glad to know you and call you a friend.
Big Red Bottom! - Thanks much for the comps. Pitch correct though out the whole song. Because of the vocal issues which are notable, I didn't take the time to fine tune it. Rather I want the singer to hear and work harder at fixing the problems on future retakes. Oh yea, he's from Chile. You've got some good production ideas, we thought about drums and probably will. He's a good song writer. What I liked best was how good the guitar and vocal sounded with my "beach" guitar and the russian noy-mahn knock offs. |

Sofine,
Just got to listen to your songs today. 'Falling' is beautiful. I love the unexpected, but welcome chord changes. And the vocal restraint is just perfect. For some reason, I can hear Seal doing this song. Great songs in my humble opinion. ~Roy~ |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Mr. Seven -
Nice tune! Very clean and warm. Great vocal tones. Did you use pitch correction? I hear digital "shifting" here and there, but that could just be from the MP3 compression. Where is Al from? I detect an accent, but couldn't quite place it. At times it was nice to hear it, and at other times it sounded as if English is his second language and was a little distracting. Around 1:45 it would be great to hear drums come in, and I would have liked to hear the keyboards stay in to add to the dynamics. This song could easily be a radio hit for any number of artists of many styles. Good job! |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Thanks a mill Roy,
Great to get some feedback from the land of the King! I haven't had a chance to listen to your tunes yet, but I will do so. Seal, interesting. I agree, it would compliment his vox and style. I'll tell our singer - hope he doesn't go Crazy (sorry). Check out a new topic I've started in the general discussion section about a'n'r showcases - something our band is looking into at the mo - I would love everyones opinion from this topic - some great heads! Cheers, Simon |

Hello. I'm part of a group we call Scumbo. We use a variety of tools (sound forge, Reason, Pro Tools, fruity loops, many more things...) --- We are looking to try to stick with less things... as of now about half of our work is being done with pro tools and the other half with various other things --- because the 2 of us do work in different places --- he's got pro tools and i don't (i've been waiting for a win2000 or XP version of digi 001 or MBox) --- anyways we do a variety of different song styles. we hope to make up a few new ones along the way. check our site at www.scumbo.com if interested. based in NY, NY

Hi Big Red Button, Nice production work. The songs really sound great. I really like the arrangement and mix on Wrecking Ball. Really keeps your attention, a bit put off with the rise and fall intro vocal, but he can sing. Middle Management is a great song, really like it. Have a listen to my bands EP (Digi001 - similar setup to you...) Simon

SoFine - Thanks for listening! The "he" you were referring regarding the vocals is actually me, so I'll thank you myself for your compliments. I'm not quite sure what you meant by the "rise and fall vocal intro", can you elaborate a little, I'm curious. I listened to your stuff, and I liked it a lot! Very cool vibe. I really like the acoustic and piano sounds. These will definitely be added to my MP3 jukebox. |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Springtime Girls,I'm actually working on a tune called Summertime Girls right now.Your songs are always fresh sounding. You have a great ear for mixing.I have'nt heard anything with the clarity of your mixes posted yet. I love your guitar playing. You have a really unique sound and a wicked vibrato. I've enjoyed listening to lots of your stuff.I would put this one right up there with Goblin Moon.Stu

Stu,
Thank you SO much, man. The opinions on this DUC mean so much, because the ears here are among the best in the world, and cannot be fooled. The DUC is a good testing ground, and I noticed it makes me strive to be better. Pretty cool... Thanks again, Roy |

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Big Red Button,
What I meant by the rise and fall of the vocal was reffering to "fruit from the SKY falls to the ground" at 29 - 35 secdonds - just felt a bit weird to my ear, as if the work SKY should have been sung at the same range rather than dropping down. I know I'm being picky and waffly but just seemed like a bit of a jump that stood out. I love the song though and you voice reminds me of a mix of the lead vox from Pearl Jam (Ten era) and The Crash Test Dummies. Roy, Springtimegirl is a great vibe. I love the opening piano, comes in around 13 seconds, (or is that a midi guitar) riff with a nice volume (or filter) dip and panning. How did you get the lead gtr sound, sounds a bit vocodery. Sounds great. Even though it's got Spring in the title it reminds me of Summer, cruising down the highway with the top dowm - though in pissy rainy Ireland one never gets the chance - maybe that's why I like the tune so much! Nice guitar playing too - lovely accurate bending. That's not midi guitar is it?! Nice texture sound for intro and outro too. Great stuff. Simon |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Simon,
I'm sorry I forgot to answer your guitar question.(I was picturing us cruisin... ) Uhh, the solo was played with the guitar I built through a DigitechRP2000 effects processor, which is editable. What's kind of interesting though, is that ALL the rest of the sounds are my Strat(except the obvious organ riff). I've been boring all my buddies here telling them about this system I've created called 'AESOP'. It's basically a PT session with 24 tracks of interchangeable notes, and I'm getting some good stuff from it. Thanks again... ~Roy |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Simon,
Man, what a great complement... cruisin' in the summertime with the top down. I wish you and I were there right now... Thanks SO much man... Roy |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Oh, and as long as I'm dreaming, we'de have to have some sweet girls cruisin with us. I would have..uhhh... Naomi Campbell with me in the back seat. You can drive....

Beauty! Great job on the production. It serves the feel of the song very well! The music (both sonically and chordaly) reminds me of "Wiser Time" by The Black Crowes, with a little Beachwood Sparks thrown in. I'd also love to know more about the band. Is thre a full CD or EP in the works? |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
The band is a local Hartford Band called Meat n' Potatoes - its headded up by a guy named Billy Megofna - hes the singer and guitar player. We're working on a whole CD of material, both acoustic and w/ the band. good call, Jackson - he is a HUGE Black Crowes fan. How'd ya feel about the drums?? pretty nice, no? thanks again, recorderman!!

Just litening to the "final master" of tuesday Cinemafixer.. It loops after about 1:10 ... Sound good though.. Love where the vocalist goes up into his higher registers.

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Cinemafixer-
I loved the openness of the drums! Like I said before, the production really serves the song. I love the way the "rattle" of the Leslie really pokes through the sonic holes midway through the song. Also, the slide guitar tones are STELLAR! I look forward to hearing more! PS: I'm 2/3 through a rock project now, and should have some rough mixes to post soon! |

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Marc Rosenberg,
Hi...I'm curious, is your MP3 page a list of loops mixed with songs? It's a little difficult to distinguish. I downloaded a couple of these, 'stettine' and 'lyndaone'. Are there specific songs we should look for, or are these all just loops, and 'pieces'? Please let me know... Oh, also, you can easily delete your above duplicate post if you want, just by clicking on the pad and pencil icon, and checking 'Delete'. Believe me, I've learned all about that recently... Thanks, Roy |

OK cats n' kitties,
Here's a few new sample clips for y'all. http://www.trixiestudios.homestead.com/mp3.html Sorry they are just samples. I have limited web space. The new ones are: 1. The Robert McCord Band - Best Laid Plans 2. The Robert McCord Band - Red Light Parade These are rough mixes of a project I'm currently working on. That's also me on vocals and drums, although I'm not a part of the band nor did I write any of the lyrics or melody lines. 3. Def Leftover - This is a little snippet I recorded for a perspective client after he asked if I could produce those "big fat reverbed out 80's rock sounds". Weee. Enjoy! |

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
What did you guys think of rough mix of "Red Light Parade" from a production standpoint? It's the most recent track I've recorded and I'm really pleased with how it's shaping up, especially the drum tones.
Obviously it's hard to tell from just a clip of the solo section, but I'd love some feedback on that track and "Best Laid Plans". Thanks! |
