Condenser Mic Help/Advice

Hi,

I want to get a condenser mic, mainly for recording vocals. However, I'm not ready to spend +$5000 on a mic just yet. I'm looking for one well under $1000. I'm looking for a great for vocals but versatile condenser mic.

So, what should I look for? large, medium, small-diaphragm? What's everyone using and why?

Thanks.

Try Rode NTK for around 400.00. A tube mic.

Or the Rode NT2-A or Neumann TLM103. The Rode would leave enough money for a Presonus Eureka pre as well. The 103 is nice but the Rode has more features and would be more versatile.
