How to set Digi003 as mac output
 

Hi all,

I have an Imac (os 10.6.8) with protools 8.0, and a rack digi003 by firewire. I connected speakers on the digi003.
I would like to be able to listen music from itunes, or watch a movie with the sound from the speakers. Without launching protools.
Is that possible ?

Yes it is. Go to your sound panel in Preferences and select the 003. Turn on 003 first though.

Oh yeah. Some people just use a mini jack out of the iMac(into 1/4") into the 003.
Others will chime in.

The problem is that I don't have the digi003 in the list of the output devices in the preference panel, even turned on...

Sounds like you need to reinstall the 003 drivers. So you don't see it at all?

Have you downloaded the 003 drivers from the Avid site?

It was indeed a problem of driver. So protools and the rack can work without the driver, that i had never installed. Many thanks.

Is that possible to control the rack volume with the mac keyboard ? It seems to be impossible according to the preference panel..

No. Only with the 003 or the volume control in iTunes etc..

Yes I got it working. But, protools doesnt works anymore -_-
It cant reach the rack. Bad news. Even after unstalling the drivers, it doesnt work, i'll probably reinstall the whole package

Easy now. What do you mean PT won't work? Did you hold down n when starting PT and select the 003?

Probably should just use the output on your Mac and go into your Aux in the 003.

Not sure that OS is right for 8.0.
