Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
All,
Not sure if covers are allowed, but I thought that this was kinda cool. My good friend in Pheonix plays in a cover band called "StealWool." They are all Air Force F-16 pilots by day, and play as in the band at night. Been doing it for years as they travel around and get back together...... So long story short, they recorded this in Cool Edit Pro 2.0 and sent me the wav files to remix in ProTools. Well the results are MUCH better IMO. The song is called MeKong, written by "The Refreshments." It really gave me the opportunity to mess with the drums some and distorted guitars. They recorded with Audix mics I think. There was really no sound from them at all, so that was a challenge to get the toms to come out at all. NOt impressed with the Audix mics... Really dead sounding. I had fun though! CUT, CUT, and EQ!! Hope that nobody minds that it is a cover that somebody remade. I had a blast messin' with it. http://members.cox.net/andrewsintel/MeKong.mp3 Later, -Doc |

Re: Mac Mixes!!!!!!!!
Ooooh, I feel like a giddy schoolgirl showing off my new prom dress! Anyway, here goes --- a couple of recent pieces. Both done on the 001; both nice and short, so not a lot of listening time required.
This song, "Writhe" (2:04), was mostly Reason sounds (obvious if you listen to it), but mixed in Pro Tools: http://www.billyscores.com/special2.html The other one, "Stitch" (2:49), has some Reason stuff, but lots of other samples and sounds dropped in: http://www.billyscores.com/special.html Let me know if you like them --- and if you don't, be kind. I'm sensitive... --- Billy ps: feel free to explore the rest of my website |

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Wow! My second post in a row. Bumpin' this I guess.
Alright, I was not going to post this, but I felt compelled to just throw it out there. I picked up an old MesaBoogie Studio Preamp this weekend for DIRT Cheap and gave it a test drive on the system. I ran it out direct into my ADA MicroCab 2, then into a BBE 462 Sonic Maximizer, out to the Digitech TSR24S for reverb and then into the HUSH (noisy but not that bad.) Added a simple drum loop and had some fun laying down a rhythm. I think that the amp has a very good Old School Janes Addiction sound which is what I wanted and can be driven to a TOOLish sound if desired. It also carries a great blues sound and has a extremely clean channel as well. Here ya go for the cheesy DOC sound.. I really dig it seeing I am old school. Hell I have an ADA-MP1 in my rack too.. Probably will put a wanker solo over it tonight. http://members.cox.net/andrewsintel/Test2.mp3 Enjoy, and please look at the song I had to remix for a friend above... -Doc |

Re: Mac Mixes!!!!!!!!
I am very impressed with the quality of recordings out there...
germ - not really my type of music, but I was still hooked...nice rhythm. billy101 - sounds like you are a Reason whiz - Writhe is very interesting. Joe Kelley - the links didn't work for me..but I am using a PC w/ RealOne player right now - could easily be something wrong with my config but I am too lazy to figure it out. Cargoplex - invalid link to "Leaving The Station MP3 Download Page"....according to mac.com cliepe12 - incredible recordings...can't believe they were done on PTLE...amazing. The songs are great except that they tend to sound the same since every song was recorded in exactly the same way....does that make sense? sneakypete - sounded good to me, but I'm no expert on punk so my opinion probably doesn't count for much. jamlaw - "I am" - great song...recording sounds perfect to me...again - can't believe it was only PTLE. I definitely liked this song better than others on the mp3 page, but that could just be my musical tastes. byteme - "Oxygen" was probably the song I liked best of all the ones I heard. These mixes are so far above what I can do...it's pissin' me off. "Breaking Me" didn't do anything for me but nothing wrong with the mix. I did notice some recordings similar in quality to my own...so all is not lost. I provide the following for critique... Fragment - Lady Divine Digi001 Mac G4 Dual 1.25GHz ADK A-51TC vocal mic Focusrite Voicemaster preamp BLUE Dragonfly on Taylor acoustic Gigastudio piano drums recorded with a scattering of dynamic mics, dragonfly overhead, Shure Beta 52 on kick |

Hey blindmelon,
Don't be hard on yourself ! Great tune and the chorus vocals are really nice. Overall song is very well orchestrated ! On a side note, on the violin part if you want to have a real violin let me know, I play ! There is nothing wrong with the sound at all, it is just an option if you so desire ! Really nice job !!! Take Care, Gene |
Re: Mac Mixes!!!!!!!!
My new old school thrash metal/crossover tune. Not much production wise but I'm learning.
