ErnieBall VP Jr Volume Pedal as expression pedal.

I've tried to configure the Eleven Rack to use my Ernie Ball VP Jr as the expression pedal but no luck. I'm guessing that it's not compatible.

Any help and advice?:-)

Buy a real expression pedal:o(they are cheaper than a good volume pedal).

I've used this one both with the Eleven Rack and also hooked up to my Axiom Pro for control of midi in various things within Protools, and it works great:

This has been well discussed here before in multiple threads. Search is your friend.

A volume pedal is not an expression pedal, but if you like the mechanics/feel of the EB Jr. (as I do) modifying it to become an expression pedal is not hard...

Otherwise do as Dave suggests. There are lots of nice expression pedals from Mission Engineering and the Boss FV-500 series pedals (which are volume pedal and expression pedal combined in one package).

I think I'm going to use my volume pedal and my cry baby wah in front of the 11r. I don't see any issues in doing this.

At some point, I may spring for the FCB1010 MIDI with the EurekaProm.

One missing piece is that the 11r does not have a pitch shifter.

Does 11r have auto-wah?

No issues at all, except for 1 which may or may NOT matter. By using the volume pedal in front, when you back the pedal down, you will have less drive(which means the tone will change, just as turning down the guitar volume does). My preference is for the volume pedal to turn the volume down, but not affect the tone:o Neither way is right or wrong, just reminding you of the difference:D

I get what you're saying. I don't use my guitar volume for just that reason, the sweep changes the whole dynamics of the guitar's sound. Hollows it out, takes away the oomph as it is decreased.

So then where would you put the volume pedal? In the 11r, the rig volume is in the front.

No the "rig volume" is not at the front. That's a volume pedal sim block that you can also move anywhere within the rig. It behaves like a conventional volume pedal. "rig volume" is totally different, its just a neutral overall output level of the rig. There are also amp gains (maybe two), and amp output volume and master/out volume. And you have gain/level control in any of the effects sim blocks. Most all of which you can play with live if you want to mess with MIDI. The system is sufficiently complex you need to read the documentation and just mess around with the Eleven Rack.

Where would you put a volume pedal what? A real volume pedal or the volume pedal sim block. Well that's up to you to work out to achieve what you want artistically. You can stick a volume pedal in fort of the Eleven Rack, you can put it in the Eleven Rack FX loop and move in anywhere in the rig. You can use an expression pedal and control the volume pedal sim block, and put it anywhere in the rig, and you can do more messing around with a MIDI controller. It's all up to what you want to do and your creativity.
