Re: dating hardware
When the HD interfaces were introduced I was interested, but at the same time Apogee brought the Symphony line. So I started the waiting game. And once they came up with the markII (current) series I bought that. Loved it ever since, and the box has one unused slot for expansion. Best thing about it is I can use it as ThunderBolt or HD interface. And it sounds great.
Maybe some of you think I should not say this as a moderator, but it is my opinion. I am sure Avid HD is a good step up from DigiDesign 192, but even that is "good enough" and anything past that is a matter of opinion. |
Re: dating hardware
no problems regarding your opinion - really - moderator or not and i'm glad you to be honest and in sync with what you think.
Here i'm counting every cent. And as a matter of fact i prefer saving it for mics and pres instead as i have so much to buy. Besides so much amazing sounding albums were made with these 192's. Capitol studios for exemple had these for quite a long time. Mabe you will agree (or not), but i care way much more about the recording room + mics & pres. Of course new converters like the one you mentionned would certainly add the cherry on the cake but you know, i have to keep my sinking boat pointing in the right directon  Well now you can check my soundcloud page and if you offer me a well paid job, i certainly will get new converters right after that :D |
Re: dating hardware
If you look on the bottom of a 192 the Product ID label clearly shows a date of manufacture.

Hello Guys
is there anyone that could help me to figure out where is the year on those pics ? https://i.ibb.co/v3fJGvW/192-08-21-03.jpg https://i.ibb.co/MMXYtqw/192-02-12-07.jpg |
Re: dating hardware
Must be month-day-year as they are US design. So you have a 2003 and a 2007 box
