I got one of the first 002\'s...

Hi, I got one of the first Digi 002's out of the factory. I had the problems that most of us early 002 owners know have to do with the DC Harness. I talked to Sweetwater and they sent me a new DC Harness, which I installed and everything seemed to be okay for awhile.

But now it's gotten back into it's old things again. Sometimes it will stick on "Validating..." and not boot up. Sometimes it will distort audio on playback. These are problems that I've seen other people have with a faulty DC Harness.

Do I need to just try go get ANOTHER DC harness? Or do I need a whole new power supply or what? I don't use the thing all that much but when I do I want it to work and it's been very unstable recently.

Any help would be appreciated. I don't want to send this thing in for a $300 repair if I can help it. :-)

Thanks,
-Jer

my LE system was involuntarily upgraded to a 002R early last year due to a burglary and you'd think digi would've sorted this issue by then but no! i first got a new harness then a whole new power supply. it started acting up again recently so i got out the soldering iron and hard wired the freakin thing. hopefully that cures it once and for all.

however, i believe digidesign have been quite reasonable about replacing these parts if the unit is out of warranty as it is a fault in materials that should never have occurred in the first place.

good luck!

I have one of the early 002R's and (knock on wood) have had no problems out of it so far. I traded my 001 for it as soon as it came out.

Just open the unit and exercise all the connections. Very likely that will get you going again. Meanwhile call DIGI and ask for a new harness.

Something worth trying if you decide to open up the unit to re-seat the cables (and it's probably wise to actually re-seat them rather that just jiggle them around a bit). Before plugging them back in, treat them with Caig Pro-Gold spray (unless Digi specifically cautions against doing so). If the problem is in any way associated with oxidation/corrosion, this stuff works wonders to clean and protect conductive surfaces. It's probably just good preventive maintenance in any case. Good luck, hope you get the problem solved soon!

Same here...

I keep waiting for something to happen...

I,m on my 4th 002r and Digi has been really great about replacing my original unit as long as it was in waranty. But now I on my own, and the same thing happened again! (power harness bla bla bla bla)
So having some background in electronics I took the unit apart! I then coated (all) connectors with Gaig laboratories (Deoxit D5 Power Booster).
That was over a year ago and she's still running like a clock!
Good Luck!

Cool, I'll try the spray. Where can I get some of this miracle stuff?

Give your local electronics supply place a call, or I've had great luck working with

http://www.markertek.com/

The Caig cleaners/lubes are great stuff; you may want to get a can of both the Pro-Gold and the DeOx-It. They are intended for somewhat different purposes, check out the descriptions.
