Click track erratic in Pro Tools 7.3.1

I just recently started to use my mbox again and while I never had problems before I started it up and now the click track is totally erratic. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times.

I am running Windows XP and have 3GB in RAM. I also have totally enough power to run this.

Is there something that is interfering with the click track? It seems like it is skipping a ton... itll work for a second or two and then stop and all the clicks will come at once.

Please help!

Re: Click track erratic in Pro Tools 7.3.1

Are you recording to a separate drive (not a different partition of the same drive)?

Have you had PT working properly at any time on your current system?

What have you tried uninstalling...PT or the Mbox drivers or both?

Might be a good idea to post a Sandra Report.

To both of you with troubles, you will not be likely to get any good help without providing the info needed.

Please post a Sandra report.

BTW, PC laptops are a total crapshoot for Pro Tools, unless you have the EXACT same model as someone else that DOES have it working well. If you are new to this stuff, know that Pro Tools is very VERY picky about hardware, and that includes the cpu, RAM, chipset, hard drives and graphics.

Look at the red notes above. With this setup, you could try using an approved FW hard drive for recording, by daisy-chaining it in between the computer FW and the 002. IMHO, the best drives at the best price are the OWC Mercury, which are available with 2xFW400 ports(what you need) and they use the approved OXFORD chipset. I am not optimistic as my Toshiba laptop(A105) was a total bust for Pro Tools(as are most Windows laptops). Splitting the C: drive into 2 partitions makes performance even worse than just recording to the C: drive(which is still not supported, especially with a 5400 rpm drive). The most I would expect to get out of this setup as it is now, would be 2-4 tracks with minimal or no plugins.

Re: Click track erratic in Pro Tools 7.3.1

thanks for answering
ok..
the problem is..
when I used the versions of windows xp pro sp3 and pro tool 7.4
in my toshiba laptop
everything worked normally ...
midi sync was fine.. and I could open projects with 20 tracks.. and effects
also use the firewire/1934 controller TI

(just saying this as a reference)...with the same hardware
but different operating system everything was ok..
the problem is that I used.. craked versions of software..

Now I have the toshiba recovery disk ..with win xp home edition sp3 OEM
which came with the notebook .. and is not working with pro tool 7 and 7.3.1
which are the versions that I bought with the digi 002 ..

I've tried disabling:
the wireless..the ethernet.. the via firewire controller..
and everything that I found not necessary..in the Device Manager..
run msconfig
disabling services that are not essential to windows..
I read about how to configure windows and pro tool..

I hope someone can help
thanks..

problem solved!
after several attempts ...
I found that the problem of synchronizing between click track .. midi sync .. and pro tool 7.3 ... It is solved by placing a usb memory drive before starting pro tool ..

Toshiba Satellite A110
digidesign 002
Microsoft Windows XP Home 5.01.2600 (Service Pack 3)
pro tool 7.3 ..
if you have this problem this is the possible solution ..
read the entire post and sandra report to see the hardware and software installed ..
