Can't activate Pro Tools 12 after re-install.
 
I had PT 10 and 12 installed and working. I decided to just uninstall both and do a fresh install of PT 12. Now when I go to run PT 12, it won't recognize the license on my ilok and won't let me open PT.

I'm running Windows 10 but I've always ran Windows 10 even when I installed it the first time. It installed just fine, it just doesn't see the license on my ilok.

Pro Tools 12.3.1 is in my products on the Avid site.

I updated the ilok manager and re-synced my ilok but that didn't make any difference.

Can anyone assist? Thank you.

And the exact version of Pro Tools 12 you installed is... ???

I'm going to guess it's 12.6 or later and that needs a new license which you don't have. You need to install a version prior to 12.6.

This has all been discussed to death on DUC over the years.

Nope the version I'm installing is 12.3.1. Forgot to include that my bad.

Make really sure when it starts up it says the version you expect.

Is the license is on your physical iLok and you can see that using ILM?

It's not parked in your iLok account? or in the iLok cloud?

Regardless, try uninstalling and reinstalling ILM from a newly downloaded ILM installer from iLok.com

Esp. if this is costing you money/customer issues: I'd contact Avid support, you will have to buy an ASC if you don't have current support contract. https://www.avid.com/learn-and-suppo...-music-support

PT version is definitely 12.3.1

License is on the iLok.

Uninstalled ILM and reinstalled from a new download.

Same issue.

I was able to chat with Avid Support earlier today and they are saying it won't activate because I'm not on a supported OS for that version of PT... which shouldn't matter. I installed it before on the same system with Windows 10 and it's been on my computer, working just fine for years since yesterday. Tried to get them to help beyond that and they ghosted me.

Edit: I know this isn't the issue cause I could reinstall PT 11 right now and it would work just fine.

After checking your account I'd say the problem isn't OS compatibility - you only have a PT11 Free Sdnt Upgrade in your iLok account which is a bundle including Pro Tools 10 and Pro Tools 11 licenses. That cannot authorize 12.x. Looks like that was a free update for your PT10 which was purchased when we were offering the special student product with 4 years of releases. I'll check in with the CS rep and follow up via that case to get this sorted out.
