I just figured that if you want to get popular here (DUC), you just have to team up with Roy Howell... He's the Man... Remember: Is not what you know, its WHO you know!!!
Thanks James, i will be looking forward for your stuff...

metaltim,
I just scrolled up and found 'forgotten'...nice chord changes and programming job. It's wide open for a vocal or even as an instrumental...very friendly feel to it. I know you're a drummer, but these are programmed, right? Did you use Reason?
thanks, Roy

Hadjipita/Dean,
I just heard 'Best of Me'/The Fully Down (great group)... Good job on the mix indeed...guitars, vocals sound great...good dynamics overall...bravo.
Thanks for the listen... -Roy

correct i am a drummer, but this time (what am i saying: everytime) i used the my roland xp-30 for those. (my drums are stacked up in a closet at a studio!) I just did it all manually. i actually had to really think about some of those beats, fitting it to the grid and stuff.. kinda frustrating sometimes.

instrumental came into my head at one point also, i could just start adding stuff and im sure it would progress nicely.

of course i havent put any time into putting a vocal line to it yet, so once i sit down and do so it should work out good as a song.

thanks for the kind words.. though they are so many levels below what I could say about your guitar work!! I'd love to have you put stuff down on a recoding of mine, that would be cool..

not that i have anything, but maybe one day!

Roy, thanks for the kind words on "Think Of You".
Just wait till the "real" vocals are done.... it should really kick then.

Oh, I was listening to Goblin's Moon again yesterday, that realy is a great piece

Thanks Mark...Linda loved 'Think of You' when I played it for her... please be sure and post the final mix.

Hey everyone:

I just did an improvised guitar solo for Roger Lima's song
'Anger Management' with Roy Howell's killer guitar work.
I have an mp3 at my site. This is just the solo part. I will work on vocals
next.

http://www.jamesthorpe.com/music.php

I also have a newer song called 'Release Me'. It is inspired
by the Matrix series. I don't know about the arrangement but
i hope you dig it.

peace,

This is sort of a test - I finally decided to regain my long lost web presence. New web-site to follow shortly if this works.
The above link is sort of a test, so let me know if it works for you. Comcast is pretty weird about files and downloads and so forth. I got it to work for me, but just want to make sure it works for everyone before I start crowing to the virtual universe.
The song is called 40 Miles... it isnt really finished yet, but its coming along considering the amount of time I am able to put into working on it these past few months as I prepare my home for sale.
Things are just too busy and I cant wait to return to some relaxing recording..

Ok. Everything here is done/tracked/mixed on PTLE.
The CD under the heading "The Russian Connection" just got a price over here for best sound/mix, nobody believed me when I said its done on a LE.

Xis...that was pretty cool. I checked out every sample. Really different stuff from what I'm used to hearing.

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

I've a suggestion, though it should have probably been done a long time ago when this thread started...

it involves file naming.
i was going through my DUC folder on my hard drive (which btw has over 100 songs in it!!)
and i noticed something, it looks a damn mess...
half of the files in my folder are just a song name, no artist, some are the artist with just a track number some don't make any sense..

I think we should start naming our files in a similar fashion.

I would think the best suggestion would be to name it like this:
Artist - Song Name.mp3
for those ofy ou who post more than one mix of the same song:
Artist - Song Name - MMDDYY.mp3
or something to that effect..

now even with an artist name, it still may be tough to find the specific website again where we first downloaded the song, but you could easily post in here 'hey if you are "artist" post back with the web addy...'

now i know i like to have my ow naming method for my songs and mixes, with dates, and obviously I don't put the artist on my own song.. but when uploading, it takes 2 seconds to change it. You can either change it on the server, or do what i do, whenever I'm ready to upload a song, I COPY the file to my desktop, then change the name to this convention, then upload
once uploaded i can erase whats on my destop.

anyway.. just a suggestion that should benefit everyone here..

tim

OH YEH ALSO if you use the mp3 bouncer on pro tools, fill in the info on the dialog box that pops up, that writes that info to the file and shows up in the folders if you have 'artist' 'year' etc etc showing..

Aussie169 11-18-2003 05:43 PM

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

Tim,
When I download a track from here, I add the DUC username to the front of the file name.
That at least keeps them sorted out.

da BaSsTaRd! 11-19-2003 06:17 AM

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

i keep them in separate folders

Roy Howell 11-19-2003 09:29 AM

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

Tim,
Good ideas...I myself do what both Aussie/Mark and DaBasstard/Brian do...I rename the song file w/artist first, and put each new song by the artist in his own folder. All these folders are in a folder called 'AardvarkFiles', so it's at the top of a storage drive, easy to find.
Your ideas will no doubt help somebody organize better.
thanks, Roy

All,
Another song from my latest client. 17 year old! Singing and playing. It is all acoustic, but I think that it sounds pretty cool. We did a 9 song CD in the past 2 weeks. Going to master it in a few more weeks.........

www.tbrstudio.com/MP3/Rothman/OrdinaryLove.mp3

I would like to post all of them, but can't. Good stuff though I think....

Oktava 319's on guitar (Taylor C414)
Art DI/O Tube Direct box SP/DIF in
Nuemann TLM-103 - VOCALS....
TrueVerb
REQ 6
LA-2A on VOCALS (Warmed it nicely)

Enjoy,
-Doc

sounds good Doc... the young'uns got some talent!
I hope you like your MK319s as much as I like mine - they sure do make a guitar sound good.
I posted a song just a couple of posts up that I used the MK319 on my guitar too. Thats a good all around mic imo regardless of its detractors.
alas.. I think I have become invisible again on the good old DUC... it doesnt seem the same anymore...maybe its me or something I said..

That is all I use on guitars! Recommendation by Chris Cavell I think. Can't remember, but they are great! Still go direct when I can too.

Thanks!

Now, I am trying to figure out who is hitting my site that works for OSD? (Defense) Kinda cool to see who is coming to the site with the tracker I run. Defense is my real world hell, so that is my curiousity. They go to my site alot too... I have it on file!

Aussie,
Ya, for some reason you have to let that page sit and fiddle with the pics. It is a cache thig on my service provider. I know that I have to let it sit there. Click the top left, then say the bottom right. It then goes WHITE, then ya click back on the top left and then the one next to it, and they will slowly work. I am just going to get rid of that and put the FLASH back up. try to let it load up for a minute and see if that helps? click around on different ones and go back to originals. It does it to me at work too...
Cache error I think, but I will revamp it here soon!

Thanks for looking, and I saw that you hit the site. My tracker tell me who and where people are from.

Hey guys,

I have one more. This song is going to be part of an audio package for FIFA 2010 Morocco campaigns. It’s almost done and it is my pleasure to share it with you guys.
Here we go...
And before you ask me: No, I didn’t switch to MAC… I am just using their sever for free for 60 days.

Funny, I was about to ask the same thing... Actually, I liked it a lot, but I want to listen to it with a better quality…
I have another song (Not Mastered) that is going to be part of a TV commercial in Brazil.
Here we go: Simple Blues

Thanks for listening

heh i guess i never thought about just doin it my self, I use a download manager and it saves right to my -DUC- folder. (hyphens or equal sign also works for putting at the top of the list and you can name it whatever, doesnt have to start with an 'A')

i guess i can start now, but in the mean time, i have 100 songs that are all over the place!!

anyway

SoFluid,
I can't download these either way...it could be that Ra Player is required to get .ram, before you can even convert to MP3, but regardless of what I've tried, I get a 1kb '.ram document', which of course won't play.

Hey, I liked your song. Is there a bass on this track? If so maybe you could bring it up a bit.

I'm a guitar player and will be happy to play if you want me to.

One more from the latest client I was working with. 17 years old... The whole 9 song CD will go to MASTER in a few weeks. His full band will be in next month to do a 6 song CD also. Should be pretty cool.

Ok...

I got something here I'd like you to check out.

Its a new track called SAILING THROUGH SEPTEMBER.

The MP3 lives here:
http://bartlebymusic.com/sailingpage.html

Stylistically...hmm...its kind of electronic-pop.
But then it opens nicely towards the end and gets
kind of spacey and atmospheric.

Equipment used:
Drum Loops from a 'Computer Music Magazine' CD, Roland XP-30 Keyboard,
Rhode NTK Mic, Lexicon Mpx-100 Reverb, Squire Jazz Bass, T-racks (mastering).

Would love to hear your thoughts and your new music too!

Wishing you all much inspiration...starting....right...NOW!

Thanks for listening!
