Re: Mac Mixes!!!!!!!!
The first song in my player was all PTLE and I remastered it recently with the help of the Wave Arts plugins like TrackPlug, which really helped it out a lot!
Check out "Do You" at http://endc.net (playback should begin after the page loads) Cheers, Nathan (Spur) |
Re: Mac Mixes!!!!!!!!
Wow, I really did this tune! I cant find a complaint about it. Makes me want to run down to my Mac and start recording.

Very first time recording my band.
This is my first post here.
I just picked up an Mbox and I'm totally excited about this thing. It came with ProTools 6.1 which should work fine for my purposes. Yes I picked up the Mbox used for 100$! I couldn't pass that up. Anyway, this is my very first recording, aside from the recordings I did in the late 80's with a 4 track recorder and a guitar...wow was that rough. My band has been together for 12 years now and we have gone to studio's to record. We finally decided to do it ourselves..actually I finally decided to bite the bullet and do it myself. This recording was done very quickly, we each did one take and our singer didn't have time to lay down the real vocals. It sounds like the bass player may need to do another take as well as some parts of the guitar track, however, I'm not quite sure how to punch stuff in yet. I'm just so excited about this, I thought for my first post I would let you guys have a listen to my first attempt at recording! Since the band is limited on mics, we were only able to use 5 on the drum kit, 1 on the snare, 1 in the kick, 2 over head and 1 between the toms as well as one for the scratch vocals. Once I get the singer back in to lay down some real vocals, I'll update and post here with the updated song. Here is the URL: http://30gritslurry.com/music/122906FusedWrist.mp3 Let me know what you think...understand this is my first time using ProTools or recording my band for that matter. Thanks Chuck www.myspace.com/30gritslurry |
Any good?
Ive done a few tracks and would like a general opinion on them - -
www.myspace.com/taintedrevolutions Please let me know what you think of the mixing / mastering ect, oh and what you think of the music too! thanx |
Re: Mac Mixes!!!!!!!!
Very nice, everything sounds so up front, it grabs your attention. That guy's a great singer/songwriter too. Really enjoyed the songs.

New Tune - its been awhile.... eh...
It has been awhile so here is a new one that I am still working out some kinks with. Having issues with the kick, but I like where it is going at least. Has some punch to it and lots of stuff going on.
SERENITY Still some minor tweeks and some arrangement things to think on. We had to track things quick as I am closing up shop and relocating to Denver in 2 week. This is the first version I guess you can call it. Enjoy, Doc |
Re: Mac Mixes!!!!!!!!
Here's a weird little tune that's part of a larger project I'm currently working on. It's really just a demo, but it was fun to make.
It's about 12 different electric guitar tracks (not neccessarily all at once) plus a couple of e-guitar loops thrown into the mix... The first minute and a half is kind of out there, but if it's late at night, you're a little depressed, and perhaps even a bit stoned, you might dig it http://silvertone.princeton.edu/~amlone/mp3s/a_thought_among_many.mp3 Cheers, Andrew |
Re: New Tune - its been awhile.... eh...
Alright! So I had some constructive surgery tonight on the mix.
SERENITY_V4 I am much happier with the hand drum out except for the break. I was also able to get a fuzzy kick that I was after. Enjoy, Doc |
new cd finally complete!
Just wanted to post that my new cd is officially done! After 2 years of off and on recording, I finally have it complete. It is my first full project done with Pro Tools.
There are song samples for every song here (13 tunes) and two full songs on my MySpace account Recorded on Protools 7.1 - Digi002 Mainly used Sony Oxford & Waves SSL plugins Soundelux for vocals sm57 for guitars D112,57, Rode NT4, Soundelux for Drums RNP, mic'd - bass Mastered by Euphonic Mastering (http://www.euphonicmasters.com/), who have done tons of artists, Sister Hazel, Nine Stories, and Evanescence to name a couple. He did a real good job. I have tried something different for this cd. When the customer buys the cd, inside the liner notes is an unlock code. With that unlock code, they can go to the web site and "unlock the vault" which has 3 complete songs from the recording sessions that did not make the cd cut, a documentary/diary on the process of recording, a "recording 101" class with over 20 audio examples of different instruments in the mix, unreleased demos, and extras (such as radio broadcasts, pics, etc..) It's a ton of extra stuff, so hopefully, people will enjoy the extras! (I threw in magnets, stickers, and pictures for the first 50 people that buy the cd) Also, Mike Viola (Candy Butchers..sang the "That Thing You Do" for the Tom Hanks movie, but more importantly, is an incredible songwriter!) sang backup on Postcards & Memories and Jim Boggia (who contains the same scary talent!) song on backup on Searching For Signal. Pete Donnelly (bassist for the Figgs) also contributed for about 5 tunes. Everybody did a great job. As you can tell, pretty proud of this project. Hopefully, you will enjoy! Thanks Keith |

Doot Doot
I decided that this would be the year I try to record a bunch of my own songs.
To get back into singing, which I haven't done for real for almost 20 years, I decided to start with a cover of Doot Doot. You can hear it here: http://www.markhensley.tv/music/doot_doot.mp3 I'm still workign on my lead vocals, as I'm not very happy with them yet. I'm thinking of finding someone to add real bass, and possibly real drums. |
Re: Very first time recording my band.
Here is the updated song with some lyrics added. I think my next step is getting better mics and a rack to get a better drum sound. Should I opt for the presonus firestudio?
http://www.30gritslurry.com/music/011507FusedWrist.mp3 Let me know what you think of my first attempt at recording. Oh, and some feedback on the song would be cool too. www.myspace.com/30gritslurry |
My Songs Reviewed on MetalSludge.tv
Here's the link to my newest song, with pics of the sessions, which was quite favorably critiqued recently on Metal Sludge:
http://www.metalsludge.tv/phpBB2/vie...er=asc&start=0 I'm using 7.3 & Hybrid & Strike (for sounds only) plus Xpand & a Korg M1R & Wavestation, plus lots of guitars, basses & vocals. I've recently added Ozone 3 for mastering, which I am very pleased with. |

Please Listen To Some Of My Tracks.
Hey guys, Harold Everton here. Producer, Songwriter, Arranger, Vocalist, Lyricist, Instrumentalist (20 Instruments). Some say my style has elements of Stevie, EWF, Prince, Quincy, Michael Jackson, The Entire 70s and 80s decades, etc. These tracks were done using live instruments, my voice, my Roland XV5080 and my Digi 001 using PTLE 6.1
I hope you like them. And just in case you guys wonder - No I do NOT use samplers, loops or anything like that. I do use my Roland XP60's sequencer and use it like a Tape Recorder - Record from start to finish, and then make adjustments as I see fit. Anyway, the songs are IN CONTROL, SING and FEEL THE HEAT. Also check out MAYBE. First mastered song
I have to say that outsiders ears can make almost miracles. Mastering is done by www.noisecamp.fi
The song is called Päiväunihiekkaa (Day sleep sand). It tells that using net is addictive and harm skill to think. Play HiFi RRP2 site I have played 2 guitars (not a solo guitar), bass, keyboards and the mix is mostly by me. 1 guitar, singing and drums is help from frends. This is my best sounding song so far, I think. Feel free to say anything. |
Re: Overnight Lows
Hey Joz,
What an improvement... I had an Early Mix of the song How do You Feel. Sounds so different now. Excellent job!!!! Did you do all that on your 002? Peace, Roger |

Re: Mac Mixes!!!!!!!!
I gotta new one up for your input. I'm not too in love with the mix, but I'm definitely not going to be making any smart decisions tonight. Too much time with it.
It's just a fun toss off idea I've had for a few years. An over the top, tongue-in-cheek track about that mate from Hell. Got the idea a few years back when a buncha friends were sitting around tradin' horror stories about "that" Ex. No offense to any listeners, some adult humor and language and please know that the pronouns are interchangeable. I just happen to be he. I am looking for some lead guitar help on this one if anyone's interested. Let me know whachya think. http://www.songramp.com/mod/mps/view...?trackid=53855 Best, Wheels |

I am not going to admit how long it took to figure out roughly the drums and how to find the sounds and tweek it BFD, but it was within a days work. Cool program that I am just starting to learn, evidently!!! I am happy with the snare, I used massey's tape head and compressor. all Verbs are TL space. Anyway, here is the same DI'd performance with crappy amplitube LE , bass gtr and BFD! I promise re record the guitar part with an amp and the Stage Hog or the DRD or BOR when I can. |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
