Video Engine Won't Launch in Pro Tools 11
 

I recently installed Pro Tools 11 on my PC and have been trying to solve this problem for days now, and see that many other people have had this problem. When I enable the video engine, it slowly cranks through the green load bar and then sits there until I give up and close out of the program. I can get the video engine to launch when I install it on my other non-audio PC, but not on my more powerful audio PC. Any ideas regarding what I may or may not have installed on my audio PC that might be causing this problem? I have been combing forums and tried all sorts of supposed fixes, but to no avail... I really can't wipe my computer and mess up all sessions in other programs just to get this to work!

Hi there,
We need some information about your setup to be able to help. Please see this thread for instructions on providing system specs.

You should follow the computer optimization guide for your OS if you have not done so already.

Perhaps the graphics card or it's driver does not play well with the video engine. Or, maybe you don't have enough RAM. Providing system specs will help others determine what may be wrong.

A list of what you have tried so far would be helpful as well.

Hi jerms, I have the same problem but on a mac.
10,8.5
2,8 Ghz Quad Intel Xeon
12 GB Ram

latest PT11 update.
The crazy thing is : 2 days ago, everything worked.
PT10 performs video ok.

I did a fresh install of PT11.
The video engine won´t launch.

Ry updating to the latest version of pt 11. What version are you on now?

If any of your mounted volumes have a "/" in their name the Video Engine will not launch. Note also that if a video file has a "/" in its name you will get a "missing codec" error if you try to import it.

Both issues have been reported as bugs.

No, that doesn´t seem to be the problem. None of my drives have a "/"
And the video engine doesn´t lauch with or without video.
btw I did a full reinstall of PT11.

The video engine of PT11 seems to be crappy since I have no problems playing video in PT10 at all....

Just a thought. Have you got Quicktime installed on your audio PC?
