I strongly suspect that when it defaults back to a perpetual parachute, it will be the same version as it was when you got the parachute. But I could be wrong.

One thing I'm sure of is that it doesn't clearly explain it in that post.

So the Perpetual Parachute has been fixed in the Dev side. We need to test it, but it should be ready for prime time soon, albeit late. Thank you for all of your patience AND questions.

So let's play the above scenario out as it currently stands....

Purchase PT | Carbon (I see you early adopters)
Pro Tools Subscription with Perpetual Parachute activated with Carbon registration

Jan 2022
Pro Tools Subscription with Perpetual Parachute expires
Pro Tools Subscription turns into a Pro Tools Perpetual license (currently broken)
You can continue to use your Carbon with the last PT release. PT 2021.12
You loose access to access to the Avid Complete Plugin Bundle, HEAT, Melodyne 5 essential, UVI Falcon 2, the sound library, & support.

Jan 2026
You decide to renew your Subscription because you miss us and we've added a ton of great features to Pro Tools
Pro Tools Perpetual Parachute Subscription is only available as an annual commitment
You get access to software updates for the year and all the goodies that went away when the subscription lapsed... to the Avid Complete Plugin Bundle, HEAT, Melodyne 5 essential, UVI Falcon 2, the sound library, & support.

Jan 2027
Pro Tools Subscription with Perpetual Parachute expires
Pro Tools Subscription turns into a Pro Tools Perpetual license
You can continue to use your Carbon with the last PT release. PT 2026.12
You loose access to access to the Avid Complete Plugin Bundle, HEAT, Melodyne 5 essential, UVI Falcon 2, the sound library, & support.

Rinse & repeat...

In this manner you are never unable to use your Carbon and we hopefully incentivize you to keep an active Subscription.

Bought Carbon :-)
Activated PT Ultimate perpetual license
Activated PT Carbon subscription license

December 2021
renewed my PT Vanilla perpetual license for $199

September 2022
Let my PT Ultimate perpetual license expire
Let my PT Carbon subscription lapse

October 2022
Can I use my longstanding PT Vanilla perpetual license to run Carbon???

Does Carbon run on Vanilla? I ask because I don't see much of an advantage running Carbon on Ultimate vs Vanilla for a $200/yr premium ($399 vs $199).

Yep, Carbon runs on PT Vanilla (need a better name... vanilla is delicious).

The Carbon PT Subscription w Perp Parachute is vanilla flavored as well.

So if your longstanding PT Vanilla perp license fits your needs, than you are good to go!

Progress! I got a perpetual license added to my iLok account with a release limit of the day before my original subscription expired, so the iLok end of things is now functioning as described. Looks like just the Avid - My Products account page hasn't been updated yet to reflect the license and resubscribe options yet.

OK so it sounds like that has been better clarified
(note I had a current support plan and Ultimate license long before I bought my Carbon So I opted for the 1 year extension on that ) so that is fine

But I have a new wrinkle.......
When I open my account I get this warning
