Re: PT8-Goes into pause, not play

i have 3 le daws. one laptop le. 1 002, 1 003, and 2 mbox mini. vista and xp pro. i am a power user and have used every version since sound designer. pt8 has an issue with being stuck [ NOT PAUSE] due to buffer issues. you can have it cranked or small, but you can get [at times] no start upon hitting play/rec on your computer keyboard, or 002/003. if you hit stop and wait between modes,[ stop, play forward, etc] and let the buffer clear you will go into record mode. this is especially an issue if using click, and two or more xpand2. this is with 4gig ram, and dual and or quad chips.

this was not an issue for us with pt7 or 6.

as i tend to work fast, and hit commands quickly, pt le will get in 'stuck' mode. and you cannot clear it, with your computer keyboard, you have to reset on the screen, or hit stop, on your remote.

mostly this is happening with vst instruments, in record mode. also shut off any vst built in reverbs and or delays , especially with xpand2 if you are using 2 or more instances. try using verb delay on an aux

anyone from avid looking in here?

Well said!!
I have been through 3 motherboards, 3 sets of RAM, 3 processors, 2 interfaces, about 4 firewire cards (most on the advice of Digidesign Tech support), Two versions of Pro Tools, hundreds of hours of troubleshooting, 2 different operating systems, several complete reloads, Many phone calls, and several thousand dollars. After all that and 10 months of my life that I'll never get back, I finally have it working enough to record, but now I too have the dreaded Play/Pause problem. I am a musician!! I don't want to spend my time troubleshooting. I want to record!!! All of this crap robs us of our creativity!
