I really like that christian music goes together here with the darkest tunes in good harmony, as well as all styles of music stand next to eachother here. Comparing some songs to eachother makes them look as completely opposed regarding their textual meanings, and everybody respects eachother. All different beliefs, styles and backgrounds peacefully coëxist on this place. Compliments all of you!

The reason I haven't listened to it yet is because Soundclick wants me to go through an entire full page registration form before I can download the MP3, then the're going to e-mail me an entry code which I must then go back to Soundclick and log in with.

This is a host site that goes out of its way to make sure nobody comes in and listens to your stuff. It's hard enough to draw people to a user-friendly site. I'd suggest going to a different host - maybe IUMA, MP3.com or Artistlaunch.

I'm going to go ahead and go through the motions to listen to your song, because you're a DUC guy (which makes you cool, right off the bat), and because you deserve to be heard. But you might want to rethink that site.

Listened to "Billie's Bounce" - very nice. You've got some serious jazz guitar chops. The mix is ALMOST there...sounds clean, but in the beginning of the track the lead guitar is drowning out the bass/rhythm part. I would bring up just a tad, at least until the chord runs start.

Very cool ending chord. Let it ring a second or two longer if possible.

Ok Roy, I don't blame you particularly. Just got a little pissed off ..... And I wonder, am I the 'good reason' [img]images/icons/confused.gif[/img] ? Never mind.

Anyway, I like to post my new compositions when I'm ready with them, but I sold my 001 and everything I make from now will be done with Cubase and probly a Layla24 later on. As you say, that won't stop me from posting [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img]

Ok friends, all of you, have a look at www.voideco.com. The latest tunes I've posted are Age of Soul (out of which I derived Age of Mankind, which has HD recorded samples), containing Nord Lead 1 tunes that dress up the song the most. Dismal Science I recorded all in PTLE, like also Bear with me. The songs that are the most finished are Goldfish and Galactic Storm however, made with Cubase VST. Hope & Faith is not very advanced, but I keep it there because of the emotion I put into it. Any comment is welcome, my family likes anything I make even if it's a Santa Claus poem, but I'd like to hear some comments that make sense from fellow musicians. More tunes are to come up later.

I don't know why, but these songs download very slowly. There are 12 songs there, so I had to choose a couple, which I did.
I listened to 'Bear with Me' first, and then 'Age of Soul'. Interesting mixture of synth sounds and beats, and some of the bass lines are really nice. Helps make the background come together well. You're getting some good sounds. Keep it up...

Thanks Roy. Yeah, my server is very slow. I'm hosting the site myself and my average downloadspeed is 35 Kbps (cable modem). And I will have to keep on using that connecting, can't afford ADSL yet.
Thanks for the comments. Think my main skill is in the mixing, not in composing. Compared to what some people here make I think I only approach their musical skills from a distance. Lots to learn, so I keep following this thread.

Very cool! It would be great to know how you tracked the guitars, drums, etc... so we all learn from the masters! Sounds like real drums, not loops or MIDI. Dying to know more details!!!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">you'll have to ask roy about the guitars. the drums are loops that i made with a friend of mine. where we needed an extra crash or snare hit i used the soundfont i made from the same session as the loops. bass is direct through focusrite voicemaster. i did the vocals through my SP C1 / voicemaster. pretty simple...

the only thing about the loops is the cymbals are a little gritty because they were recorded at 110bpm and i compressed them to 125bpm. that's a long stretch and they didn't come out as nice as they went in...

Nice Track guys. Im interested in how long it took you guys to record this? How did the file transfer come about? Roy, nice guitars. I particularly like the solo, nice sounds. DB, The drum editing is superb. I deal with C&P'ing drums all day long, and that was some of the finest work I've heard. Vocals are very fitting and accurate(on key!) too. I havent heard the original before, but that was a cool track.

DaB makes it easy for me. He just put a ruff MP3 mix together, I downloaded it, and converted it to WAV. Then I brought it into PT. I created 3 mono Audio tracks to play on, then played the little slide background part through an amp modeler, direct to PT. I then played the dirty slide through a small Fender amp miked with a Rode NT1.(Actually kinda sloppy playing I thought, but I like the sound better than one I probably played better through the amp modeler). Once I was through, I converted the PT WAV's to MP3's and sent em to my man, DaBasstard, who mixed it...

What a cool and incredibly varied collection of stuff on here...beats the heck out of turning on today's radio stations. I especially enjoyed "Burn," Roy...I've no doubt it'd make me want to jump on my Harley if I had one (but I think a ten speed is about as daring as I'm apt to get when it comes to vehicles with two wheels!).

I finally got around to doing a site update and have posted an additional MP3. I decided to put up "Wings of Steel" even though it's not 100% done in regard to the mix as it seemed to strike a chord with me at the anniversary of 9-11 (I have a piece in progress that deals directly with the subject, but that one wasn't close enough to completion for posting). Keep up the good work, guys...it's so refreshing to hear you coming up with all this left-of-center stuff that I never would have thought of doing.

Actually, this is just the verse part of a song I wrote a couple of years ago. I opened it the other day, and created mandolin samples for the verse, using this mando-sample system I've worked out(really cool, all within PT). Then I decided to develop the verse as a stand alone piece.

Just a warning, my newest song is a LOT different then the stuff I normally do. I was being "creative" and decided to make a song with lots of screams.. Stuff from movies, a lot of myself in there. Dont play it around young children, they might get disturbed. Hopefully not.
