Thanks Wheel, and for sure Roy's project is both technically and musically great.

By the way Roy, your Cape group effort was the bomb. I know I always hate when people say, "sounds like..." but that tune definitely conjoured up good feelings of listening to a variety of bands from my youth.

Just a sick effort all the way around. Superb. The level of musicianship and production on this board just boggles my peabrain.
Wheels.

Thanks very much, Wheeltard...

Really good song. Vocal style matched the music perfectly. Words hit home big time. Good job.

For some samples of stuff I've done on a Digi002R and ProTools..

All tracks were done with real instruments... no samples.

Comments greatly appreciated.

Hello everybody!
Im working on a project that´ll be complete in a few moths. But until then, here´s a little riff I recorded with my new 7stringed badboy for those of you who are interessted in slow heavy music.

By the way, dont mind the solo, its a little rough its just a test so Im not gonna rerecord it, maybe later. This riff will NOT be on the record so if you like it, do whatever you want with it... enjoy!

Give me some feedback on the production, its not the best song in the world but what do you think of the mastering and so on?

Its the song "7string thingie" check out the other ones too if you want, they all are on:
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page...?bandID=386022

All the happiness to you!
Rob

Your own Way is pretty good. Very Metallica'ish if that's what you were shooting for. Rather than explain, here's what I would have done with the song.. (with Harmonizer)

Your Own Way

I would lower the bass and raise the bass drum. Also I would have created a pan layout for the drums instead of centering everything.

Here's the original:

Your Own Way - Original

gotta dissagre with you on this one. the bass in this song is a real driving force. your mix makes me feel like all im hearing is a high hiss from the hats and cheap guitars (no offense there). the origional is very poerful and driving. it is bassy, but thats a good thing also, the drums are definitly panned. you can really notice when the quick splashes are hit.

Well we agree to dissagree.. remember I only had an mp3 to work with affecting over all tone. ABou the hiss, hmm could be the HHT is too loud or you're using an EQ (like WinAMP) that's over powering everything. The bass is ok I guess, I had to trim a bit... consequently reducing the BD. Which is why I would would lower one and raise the other for me snap on the kick. As for the guitar sound again, you'd have to go back to the oritgianl track and shape the tone although I don't quite label them as cheap sounding. Anyhow... good feed back Tgrokz

I tend to agree with you about the vocals on Inky Tool, however, the band didn't want to do 'em... so.... there ya have it.

I've got some of my latest stuff up at web page

Consumer Templates and Acquaintance are the newest tracks. The Knock Off was mixed and mastered in ProTools but not tracked. Person A was 24/96 but then I wised up.

I'm hoping just one person thinks the music is ok...

Thanks for listening!

Absent,

I liked all four of the tracks posted. Great songs. A couple would be edited for radio play (i.e. length), but I like them the way they are.

Hope to hear more!

Cool! Thanks for listening.

I can't see this type of music ever being radio friendly though. At this point I just do it because I love to.

Thanks again...

Hey Dave C, the Tard here...

I did a remix of my song. http://www.songramp.com/view.ez?sampleid=41858
It still needs work but I'm pretty happy with it as my first mix and mastering exercise. I'll probably come back to it after a while, but I'm moving on to other fun stuff.

Any advice or input would be appreciated.
Take care,
Wheels

Re: Hey Dave C, the Tard here...

Thanks for the encouraging words, Roy. That means a lot coming from you. I tell you, mastering my stuff is like ironing a wrinkly shirt with no starch and a low heat setting. But I think I've got my head around Sound Forge and Ozone 3 -- both of which I LOVE. I think that combo is the mastering neophyte's best friend.

Thanks again,
Wheels

Re: Hey Dave C, the Tard here...

Flux,
I really like it. Very Teenage Fan Club to my ears. My only nit-pick would be that the drum machine sounds like, well, a drum machine. And while that's not necessarily a bad thing, given your style, I think you might benefit from accoustic drums or accoustic samples. But I really like the writing and delivery.
Take care,
Wheels

This is my first post on this topic - Love listening to all your stuff!

I thought I'd post one of my songs to get some feedback. It's a little out there!

Just click on the entrance to my site and a Flash MP3 player should pop up with the song playing.

Thanks a lot. I completely agree about the drums. We actually just got a drummer and we are going to have him record his drums and eliminate the obvioous sounds of the SR-16.

Again, thanks for the compliments. We are so glad you like it.

Very nice job, Bob...among other things, I love the off-the-norm licks behind the verse vocals... ...very cool....good song and tight mix too. Good stuff.

Re: Hey Dave C, the Tard here...

Awesome tune Roy! The first thing that hits me is the mix. The texture, structure and flow of the piece is right on. Love your guitar playing as always. The separation of your instruments in your mix allows me to get right inside this song and travel with it.Sweet!

I have here another tune from a project called Frozenbones. The song is called "Elefunkey".

Elefunkey

We actually have had a little success with this tune to our surprize.. Some radio play in Boston and Dallas and pretty decent exposure with positive responses in Germany and UK. We also have one other tune caled "Two Faced" which has done very well for us. I'll post that a little later.

Got to love internet to get your music out there.

Wheeltard 02-17-2006 07:39 PM

Roy, super nice tune...

Man, that's such a well balanced and recorded mix. I so want to get to that point someday. I have to think that piece would be in serious demand for needle-drop or T.V. production jobs. And I don't mean that in diminutive way. I mean that in this is first class, pro level stuff. Great work, man.
